Anyone ever catch an error in a show?

But, overall, if there were this many problems with the show's TECH, it would nearly certainly have been cancelled.

If the trap system was not working it would be possible for the same character to stay on stage.
And INTENTIONALLY (by necessity) be wearing the same costume throughout that scene, but I don't see how
the FACE could change from the Evil Queen to the Hag.

Fair point. If Character #1 gets stuck on stage, then there they are, in all their costumed glory. Unless they elected to plunge off the rocks into the water!!

If the lifts weren't working, the show would have been downed.

If a canoe hit the wall, the show would have been downed.

If the Princesses were floating aimlessly, the show would have been downed because they wouldn't be able to get to their other roles.

Seems like an awful lot to go wrong in one show. Not saying I don't believe you. Would have definitely been a hard show to watch.

Just to clarify - I talked to my friend that works for Disney (she came with me to the show), and she discussed these errors with them today. They mentioned that the trap door has been broken all week and it has been happening at all the shows, thus why the transformation didn't work out, and why Mickey wasn't in the place he was supposed to be at the very end. The Hag's face WAS covered, I did notice that right away. All you saw was white hair covering it up. It very well could have been the same character playing both the Queen and the Hag. But apparently if I don't have a video of it, no one believes this happened.

Well, all of this happened, and the show continued from start to finish. Next.

I've seen F! shows where an awful lot has gone wrong (including all the monkeys falling over) but the Evil Queen/Hag thing just isn't how that part works. As another poster said, they are two different characters, in two different costumes. If your friend works at F! she can explain how it works to you.

Thanks. Wishing there was a "delete" button for this thread right about now.
I've had a few bad threads as well. I once wrote a thread about selfie sticks! Talk about a mistake.

I believe crazy stuff happens and maybe you were at that 1 in 10,000 type of disaster where they didn't pull the plug. I don't see what anyone has to gain coming on the dis and making up a story.

I've seen them run the show with several missing effects.
They can even run it entirely without the dragon.
(Not nearly as "good" a show that way.)

With all of the Cast Member cuts we've heard about, I wonder if they had an inexperienced stage manager that night and (s)he just
didn't want to stop the show for the errors. The boat errors do seem out of the range of "minor."

If they don't cancel a show for certain serious tech problems, they can get in trouble with the performers' union, if nothing else.

Did they stop setting the water on fire at the end? We were there a couple of weeks ago, and there was no fire. I was looking forward to it because it was cold. :rolleyes1 We figured it was the 'technical difficulties' that they announced 5 minutes before showtime. :headache:

The show can run without the fire effects.

But, when everything is operating correctly, the fire is still a part of the show.

It actually happens twice in the show.

My CM friend is a Fantasmic performer and whenever a canoe hit the wall, guests would point and laugh at the performers until the immediate announcement that the show was canceled.

It's all intricately timed: the canoe performers have to get to the stage for the fight scene and everything is timed to the pyro. That's what downs the show so that no one is injured by pyro blasts.

I am trying to believe how Evil Queen would be onstage with a white wig in hand and then transform and shrink quite a few inches in the moment that smoke covers her. And, if the lift and door weren't working, where did she put her crown?

I've seen Fantasmic! just as you have described last July, it was stopped 3 times. Was rather amusing.
As for the Evil Queen debate, I do believe you. If you watch to the far side, you'll see someone come out of the cauldron (old hag), and hug the wall, and the evil queen disappear down the cauldron.
If the trap door is broke, then this transformation can't take place, therefore the evil queen will normally put some sort of wig/headpiece on. Clearly this is what happened when you saw it, this is also backed up by Mickey not being in the usual centre spot at the end and being off to the side.
My friend saw it on Thursday and said she saw the exact same thing you are describing with the evil queen.
I've seen many, many shows at Disney, but all the problems seem to happen at Fantasmic!
(Boats with monkeys crashing into each other, screen projections not working, no Maleficent so they have Mickey standing there being scared whilst she talks etc). The boats in Pocahontas scene is indeed the most common one.

There's another video on YouTube of Mrs Incredible's head falling big off during a show on one of the cruises. Very awkward!

I'm thinking a really BIG white fright wig. ;)

I had to whisper to Goofy that his fly was open at Tusker House once ... There was white stuffing protruding from it, it was quite obvious and no one else wanted to say anything ...

And at FOTLK in February, the floats weren't cooperating - Simba wound up stuck behind his curtain for a while.
