I was wondering- has anyone ever done this? Or am I in for trouble? I've never bought anything on there before, but the airfare is so tempting! But I say its too good to be true, how about you? There are some good deals, real or fake?

I've never seen anything travel-related sold on Ebay that was a deal. There is always some fine-print (such as requirements to stay at a certain hotel for a certain # of days at a certain rate), which make the so-called deals cost you more than if you had booked airfare conventionally.

never bought airfare, saw some deals, but i really dont trust them, with ebay you got to watch out, some things come to you and are not what they said to be, other things might not come at all, but hey, it could be a great deal, that is all good,
good luck

I think it would depend on whether you are looking at airfare sold by an individual ebay seller or that sold through ebay's new travel service.

If it were an individual seller, I'd be real careful and really research the "fine print" as well as the seller's feedback record.

If you are looking through the new travel service, I would say you are much safer as this is an ebay-owned enterprise and should be reliable. It appears the travel service operates somewhat like Hotwire and Priceline in that you can bid etc.

Good luck!

Unless you purchase direct from the airline, through the EBay travel agency, or through one of these "discount" sellers (where there's mucho fine print) isn't it illegal? I thought airfare was non transferrable?

I bought some discount tickets for Northwest Airlines for $30 or so on ebay. We saved over $500.00 booking flights for a Canada trip. But I would be wary of the actual flight tickets if not purchased through a reputable dealer.

good luck!

Interesting this should come up because I booked on Priceline a hotel for our Disneyland trip in two weeks and it asid it was part of the new EBay Travel Service! I thought that was totally weird, but maybe that would explain how similar they are!

Not sure if it is illegal, however, SWA's rapid rewards tickets are fully transferrable, you just cannot sell them, sooooo folks over at ebay sell the "envelope" and the ticket is in it. Trickey, eh?
I have yet to sell or buy airfare there.
