Anyone ever booked a car through Hotwire?

We are heading to wdw in May, and my dh wants to rent a car, but we don't want to spend 600 bucks for a car rental. I thought of two options, we can rent a midsize car from hotwire for $187 dollars, or we can use ME, and rent a car for 4 days of our vacation for about the same price. I figure it would be easier to just have a car for the whole trip, and not have to worry about stopping what we are doing to go get or go return the car. I am just a little worried of paying hotwire, and not getting what I paid for. I don't have to have a fancy car, and I don't mind if we have to take a shuttle from the airport to go get it. This is so stressful, please help!

I used hotwire for a DLR trip. It was just fine. Got a Chevy HHR, which we loved. :)

When we used it I was able to choose the rental agency; I think some of their transactions are like that, and others you don't know who it is until you've agreed.

Regardless, they do have a list of rental companies they use, and they are reputable.

I went through the rewards site I use, clicked on hotwire, got a good rate and rewards back AND fell in love with the HHR. It was good all around!

Well, I didn't use Hotwire, but I did use Priceline for my trip next month. I was able to get a Full-Size car for $18 per night. It is through Avis, which is in the terminal at OIA.

I would LOVE to get $18 day rate! How did you do that??? We get in late Sat night (feb 13th) and leave early wed morning (feb 17th?) at MCO. Any suggestions?

A couple of years ago I tried getting a car on priceline. :wizard:
Before I put in a rate on their request line I checked all the discount rates available using the Mousesaver codes. :teacher:
Using the codes I could get an intermediate size car for about $150 total for April school vacation week. :laundy:
I went to priceline, started at $12, went as high as $20 per day ($140/wk) for the same car, same week and it rejected my offers. :scared1:
I rented a Dodge Charger from Thrifty using the Orlando Magic card/code for $150 for the week. :cool1:
Make sure you check the codes and discount rates before you commit yourself to an offer. :teacher:
Good luck all,
Joe

I am interested in renting a car also what are these codes and where do you find them ?

There are constant threads being written on recent rental codes someone came across somewhere. :surfweb:
For example, the most common codes are found at:

Back in May when I made our flight reservation with Delta for our April 2010 trip, I used the Delta code to reserve a Caddilac DTS from National, $250 total for the week. :laundy:
Good Luck All,

I take atleast on long drive each year to fl, va, or al and i normally use hotwire to rent car from local airport.... I use my debit card and most of the companies call it prepaid so no deposit but make sure you check before you pick up the car.

Never had a problem and have been doing rental for almost 10 years.
