riding the monorail

I just booked the character breakfast at Crystal Palace for 8:05, the Magic Kingdom opens at 9 on this particular day. My question is, will the monorail or ferry be running by 7:15 - 7:30, so we can take our time and make the reservation? I guess it has to be, it is just that Disney states transportation starts about an hour before park opening...
I'd love to be the first one at the restuarant - has anyone ever done this? I understand they might pick your child as chef of the day...or something like that.
We will have a car and are staying at Old Key West.... I don't care for the bus thing, but I am wondering if that is the best way to make it to MK early.
