Just wondering if anyone has been in any of DVC's marketing material. We received an e-mail recently asking us if we would be interested in being in some DVC marketing material they are apparently doing this year. I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever done this and if so what did it involve and did you enjoy it or get compensated in any way for your time. I realize they probably get lots of people responding when they send this out so our chances of actually getting selected may not be that great, but it sure would be interesting.

We recently got to be in one of those video testimonials that they do. It was on the January Member Cruise. A girl from the marketing department approached us during lunch on boarding day and asked if we would like to participate. We said yes. She gave us a time and place to be for the taping. They used an aft balcony cabin that overlooked Castaway Cay. We were mic'ed up and set in front of two cameras. There was a guy next to us with one of those light bouncing screens that they use making sure the sun was hitting us correctly. The host was standing next to the cameras asking us questions and giving us some simple direction on when to look at each other etc. They taped the whole interview, about 10-15 minutes. We did some parts of it more than once, with my wife taking the lead or myself taking the lead. We have not yet seen the finished piece. It will be used on marketing material for the Member Cruise. I guess we did a good job, they told us they were getting soundbyte after soundbyte. It was really fun. There was no compensation and we had to sign waviers before filming. If you get a chance, definitely go for it.

About a year ago I got a phone call, out of the blue, from a woman saying she was working for DVC making promo videos and wanted to know if my family w/b interested. I took her name, number, company name and said I'd call her back.

Then I looked her up on line. Real person; real marketing company (not affiliated with Disney).

Then I called Disney and got passed around a few times, finally getting connected to their marketing dept. I told the woman the story and the caller's info, and she confirmed they were using her and her company to do promo videos for DVC.

So I called the original caller back. Talked for about 30 minutes and then she told me they were looking for various types of families for different videos. One was an ABD trip to Costa Rica; another was to be filmed at BLT. She asked we had all had passports, which we do. She liked our family make up and asked if she could send an email to me asking a list of questions. I was to write a the answers in narrative form and send it back along with pictures of us doing stuff at Disney.

We were very excited as we sat and answered the questions, with visions of a free ABD trip in our heads.

We never heard back. My wife blames my ugly face for us not getting any further, but it was exciting to be involved in the process.

OMG. That would break my heart, if we ever got that close and didn't get picked for an ABD trip/promo. And the part I bolded, hehe, my husband and I talk like that all the time, so we'd probably say the same.

To the OP--there was a lady on the DIS whose family is in the last infomercial playing last year. I think they were the "grand gathering" family that took pics in front of the Castle, and got to stay in the GV at BLT. If you google her post it will come up.

Thanks for stories about this. My husband filled out a survey for them and sent in a picture. Supposedly they will get back to us in the next several weeks. We are visiting OKW this year with four generations (my parents celebrating their 50th wedding aniversary, my husband and myself, our children, and grandson), don't know if thay will make any difference in who they actually choose or not. As I sit here looking out my window at it snowing like crazy, I do know that with the winter that will not go away I can't wait for our vacation in sunny, warm Florida!!
