We are going in July for our first time as a Family and I was wondering about Strollers etc. left behind when people are getting on rides and whether or not there is a high theft rate in this situation? I haven't seen or heard anything on this suject but Curious.

We bring our own stroller and we've never had a problem with it. It has been moved a few times but that was by cast members. Just remember to not leave anything in the stroller. I have left a couple of diapers and wipes in there and they've always been there but I wouldn't leave anything else in there.

We went when our DS5 was 3 and then again when he was 4. We never had a problem with anyone bothering our stuff but again we made sure there was nothing of real value in the stroller. We did leave a bag with a change of clothes for DS and our unbrellas in the bottom but we figure if someone needed them more than us they could have them! It was nice not having to carry them around in a backpack. Just make sure if you do leave things you won't be too upset if they're gone.

In our seven trips we've never had anything taken. Once we even went to dinner and halfway through I forgot I left our video camera in the stroller and went and found it was still on top right where I left it.
Only thing you need to know about strollers is mark yours with something that gets your attention and if you park it by a ride and come out and don't see it, don't panic look for the closest stroller parking are, that's where a CM has moved it to.
That was a rookie mistake I made on our first trip.

Never had a problem at Disney or any other theme park I've visited. Then again, my rule for taking items to public places is "Take only what I can afford to lose!" So I travel with my old watch, costume jewelry, cheap sunglasses etc. And I limit the tech toys and other valuables to those I can keep on my person - cell phone, camera that can fit in a pocket, worn on a lanyard or attached to my clothing with a clip or on a belt loop etc.

My kids have left hoodies, iPods and all sorts of things knocking around in public places and have got them back.

Anything we've had stolen unfortunately has been an "inside" job - stuff stolen by classmates, teammates etc, not strangers!

In all our 11 trips (so far) we have never had anything stolen.

BUT it can and does happen. I wouldn't leave valuables in my stroller and I wouldn't leave valuables in my rental car. You still need to take precautions.

Strollers have been known to get stolen but it's not a common occurance.

I read on a nother thread that someone had their car broke in to at BC

The only thing I've had stolen is my rented strollers- and this has happened multiple times.
Now I always tie something bright on it and that seems to do the trick.

With extended family we've been traveling with strollers every trip since 2000. In all those trips (10+) we've never had anything stolen. We've done the rental stroller, the Zooper, the Maclaren & cheap Walmart Umbrella Stroller. We've always left the diaper bags in the stroller stocked with essentials (diapers, wipes, change of clothes, spare bottles, sunblock...) But we leave nothing of value and nothing that I can't afford to miss in the stroller. Nothing has gone missing.

I ditto what everyone else has said. I keep all valuables on my person and the things left in the stroller are things like water bottles, autograph books, sunhats, etc. We've never had anything stolen however a family on our bus on the way home from MK one night were very upset b/c someone had stolen their little girls minnie purse left on the stroller with her little things in it. Pretty sad considering whoever took it could clearly tell it belonged to a little girl. I don't think that's the norm however.

Back when I was little (in the mid 80's) we went to Disney, and some kids stole my mothers wallet right out of her bag. I was little, so I don't know exactly what happened (all I remember is she blammed it on me!!), but they cought the kids, and got back the wallet.

I wonder about this as well. I read somewhere on this board that you could bring a bike lock and lock the wheel to the frame of the stroller if you are nervous about such a thing happening. That way the CM's can still move it, but someone looking for a free stroller probably wouldn't go through all the trouble.

I have had the pleasure of visiting WDW 11 times. Only once have I been the victim of a petty theft. At Downtown Disney I had already made a purchase of gifts for my grandchildren back home. After setting the bag down to make a second purchase of pins, the bag with the gifts was no where to be found. Needless to say another purchase of gifts was made. I checked with the lost & found office at DD for a week with no luck. I only hope whoever took the bag and its contents really needed those items, otherwise what goes around comes around:woohoo:

Yep, we had our stroller stolen on day one of 12 in the MK. Rotten way to start out our trip, but I do believe in karma~!

We were at Downtown Disney sitting on a bench near House of Blues. We got up and about 5 minutes laster I realized I had left my camera on the bench. I went back and it was gone, I checked lost and found and no luck. I was devestated because I had tons of vacation pictures on it.

Wow that stinks for you guys that had things taken.
I always take an extra camera card with me. After we get back if I can not download I put in the new card. That way at least if the camers got stolen I do not lose all my pictures. Sad some people could take a camera, I mean they ruin those precious picture memories that they have.

If you're using your own stroller, be sure your name and cell phone number are on it. Attach something easily identifiable to the handle so you can find it quickly when it's been moved.

We haven't had any problems. Except a "First Visit" button. A little boy (toddler) was eyeing it for some time--and it disappeared while we were on a ride. As the original owner of the button said, he apparently needed it more than she did! It was easily replaced! :)

I have never had anything stolen in Disney. In fact one time at Epcot a ten dollar bill fell out of my pocket and a teenager chased after me to return it and ran off before I could thank him. I think that was one of the better moments of my trip because it kind of restored my faith in people.

My camera was stolen at Epcot. I set it down on a bench next to me. Never saw it again. No one ever turned it in. what really bugs me is you can't "find" a camera and say hey, I have no idea who this belongs to, so I guess it's mine. I mean my family's pics are all over it. That was 5 years ago and I still get angry. :)

I either lost my camera or had it stolen. This was back when Who wants to be a Millionaire first opened at the Studios. I may have left it on the floor underneath my seat or it was stolen out of my diaper bag when I went to the next attraction. I really think it was stolen out of the diaper bag. I never leave anything of value in my stroller anymore. I went to lost and found several times and no one turned it in. Sad thing is - this was my son's first trip to Disney. We still had 2 days left of our trip, so I bought a disposable.
