I just don't get it, no matter how much I fight with him, he still wears shorts! It was 20 degrees when he left this morning and he was wearing shorts and a sweatshirt and claiming he's not cold ?! and no, he's not heavy at all :rotfl:

He hasn't done it yet this winter. This winter it's all about using a hoodie for a winter jacket. However all last winter we fought about wearing shorts when there was 5 feet of snow and the windchill was in the single digits. Well, about 1/2 way through I gave up. It's that picking your battles thing. The funny thing was we couldn't get him to dress warm in the winter. Then comes summer and 90 degree's out and I couldn't get him to take off the knit ski cap!!! I finally hid it, it was truly getting dangerous for his health (heat stroke and such...)

Kilee is write-pick your battles-both my sons have gone out in shorts and hoodies when it was single digits-i finally stopped freaking and they started to wear real clothes

we do have a teacher who wears shorts all winter--even when its -30!! :cold:

Picked up DD at school today(jr high) and saw tons of kids with just t-shirts on, no jackets. A few had at least hoodies on, but no coat. Just a couple with shorts on though, it was 25 degrees today!!

I can so remember doing that in high school. Now I sit here in my warm house and I'm all bundled up with sweater and slippers

DS13 wore shorts to school yesterday. He and DD15 also went to karate with no shoes or coat on last night. Their dohbaks are thin cotton. They make me feel cold just looking at them!

my best friend still does that and she's 33! It drives me crazy! IN fact, I find it shocking when she wears pants or a skirt b/c I mostly see shorts. Love her though!

When I was a teenager I wasn't given a choice. Absolutely no shorts in that kind of weather, unless of course it was just around the house.

DS is a high school senior and is still wearing shorts to school.

I agree with Kilee about picking your battles. There are a lot worse things he could be doing. And he is the one getting cold, not me.

Yes DD,16, and with flip flops. In the summer she wears sweatshirts and long pants, the big heavy ones from Hot Topic. I'm glad to know that my teenager isn't the only one that does this.

There a one or two with shorts on at each high school I drive for. Lots of children didn't wear coats yesterday in a wind chill of 10. Our schools have a dress code that does not allow flip flops as of this year. No pajamas either or mid-drift showing shirts and no pants hanging. No underwear showing. They did not rule out shorts.

Not so much the shorts but the kids need gloves this time of year and our 8th grader refuses to wear those. I just tell him that I don't want to hear any complaining when his fingers freeze and fall off.

I think it is an affliction that comes with being a teen-age boy.

My DH (in his very late 30s) still does this. :confused3

DS has worn them when its been in the 40's and I used to think it was really weird and then I remembered; Before the invention of tights girls wore dresses and knee highs and sometime ankle socks to school with skirts and dresses. (no pants dress code). I can remember wearing a skirt or dress with socks or knee highs, boots and if there was a lot of snow on the ground, snowpants under the dress. We also had to walk a mile to school.

My 50 y/o BIL wears shorts all winter and he delivers for Pepsi, so he's outside all year!

I'm constantly telling him he's crazy!

My dh still wears shorts all year round and we live in Chicago! :rotfl2: I figure they are old enough to know when they are cold and if they would rather suffer then be warm that is up to them. I would encourage your son if he drives to keep a blanket and sweatpants in the car just in case he was ever stranded.

My DS-15 still wears his shorts all the time. I figure whats the differnce than him wearing shorts in the winter and girls wearing a skirt. It's not worth hassling about, there are far worse things he could be doing! LOL

I have the opposite problem. I have a teen who wears jeans and a hoodie year round! It could be 100 or 30.

She only wore shorts for Marching Band Practice.

We have some guys at work who are NOT teenagers and they will wear shorts through most of the winter. :confused3
