Anyone else's summer come to a horrible end already?

My kids started school the second week of July and the previous year only ended the last week of June. Ahhh. the short summer time of year round school.
It really works to the kids favor if they finish a year in the south and then move north.

Get out sometime in May and not go back until September.

LOL, 37 days into summer and summer is over? 51 days of summer left. But it is nice that public school resumes in 8 days. No more fighting with kids in the pool at the gym. And our first summer vacation is still 4 weeks away.

We actually really like year round school. When it's 97 degrees with 110 heat index and 85% humidity, no one actually wants to be outside. We get to travel at off peak times which makes going to Disney much easier.

Our district is starting around 3 weeks later than normal this year. This summer feels endless.

They went with year round school here as a way for overcrowded school districts in the mid-2000's to pack more kids in each school. The housing building booms in those districts ended with the 2008 recession, and enrollment plunged, so no need for year round school anymore. Some loved it, but some didn't especially those whose children somehow ended up on different tracks. Very difficult to take a vacation when your children aren't out of school at the same time.

I live in a large school district and they have to keep adding year round schools; so they're here permanently in our area. I'm hoping that the high school will go year round eventually, but that's probably a pipe dream. This is when having twins is a benefit and I don't have to worry about my kids being on different school calendars.

I have full faculty meetings beginning August 10; students start Aug 23. It's my last year in schools, so I am taking the attitude that this is it and try not to let the crud phase me.

Our son starts kindergarten next Wednesday. It's hard to believe not only that school is already starting back, but that he's old enough to go to kindergarten!
Blink of an eye he will be in high school. Days run long but the years go fast. Savor it!

Schools here don't go back until 8/31 (seems odd to start on a Thursday, but ok). Last day of school will be 6/14, barring snow days.
I don't have kids, but my commute it so much nicer in the summer without all the school traffic.

Ours is equally as perplexing (or if I am candid, dumb ;) .)

DD goes to a Catholic HS. First day, half day as well mind you, is Monday 8/14. Tuesday is a holy day and she is off. Full day starts 8/16. Why not just start it on 8/16? 🤦‍♀️

I graduated from a traditional schedule High School in 1975 which the same year that our school district opened a new High School with a year round schedule. It operated on a year round schedule until 1987 when it went to a traditional schedule. Just never caught on.

I'm just upset we didn't have Spring this year. Went straight from Winter to Summer this year.

We had the longest, most glorious spring this year. We didn't get the day after day of summer heat until about two weeks ago.
Same here. First year in at least a decade where we actually had a spring. No 100 degree days in June.

Here, there's a year-round school option, but it's only for elementary. We didn't look into it--our youngest was entering 4th grade when we moved here. But, it would have been a royal PITA for us--I have 4 kids, spread over 10.5 years, and there were several years when I had the 4 of them in 4 different schools. That was difficult, even with them being on roughly the same schedules.

Yes! High school starts here Friday...DS is a junior, and will be back to the grind. He's not very social, and his school has over 2000 kids. great student though, grade wise, but it's a lot of work and effort. And just found out that his bus ride home in the afternoon is 1 hour and 15 mins....and we live 5 mins from the schooll, but there is no safe walking option for him to walk home (very busy highway with little to no shoulder/walking lane,. ) Apparently due to the shortage of drivers, they will pick them up, then drive all the way to a middle school about 10 miles away, pick them up, then run the route.
Hopefully he'll be driving next semester, because that is maddening.
DD is starting back to college in 2 weeks.

We are winding summer down a bit here. Youngest DD will be a high school junior and I think she starts the 24th of August. Middle DD will be a college sophomore and she starts the 28th. Oldest DD is starting graduate school and I think she also starts the 28th, but maybe it’s the 21st? Not sure but she knows. Oldest 2 have been done since early May so they’ve had a long summer. Youngest wasn’t out until around June 7th and she’s been really busy so I don’t feel like hers has been long enough.

We are around the halfway point. Schools
don’t start up here till Sept 7.

The weather lately has been great. Lows in the 60’s and highs in the 80’s, and the long range shows that continuing. Not to say some 90’s won’t pop up before fall arrives.

Uber would be cheaper than buying him a car....unless you have a spare car lying around. I say this because I just browsed around a car lot and it was eye-popping.
