.... sleep on top of the covers to avoid making their bed and/or changing the sheets? I have 2 kids currently doing this. DD4 likes the look of her bed made, but can't seem to make it by herself (its an elevated bed) so she has started sleeping on top of the covers. DD10 has started doing it, too, to avoid making her own bed and taking the sheets off for me to wash. It's hot enough here in Texas to sleep on top of the covers, but I still have to wash the comforter. And if they use a small blanket to cover up with, I have to wash that. I think they are just trying to avoid their chores, but giving me the same amount of work. ;) Sneaky kids.... :rotfl:

No, but my kids only use a bottom sheet and a bedspread/quilt. (They are 14 and 15 and have been sleeping this way since toddlerhood.

They both used to either push the top sheet to their feet every night or got all tangled up in it. They both decided that it was better to have to deal with only one blanket. And it makes it easier to make up the bed.

DDs are 8 & 9 and have never slept under the comforter / top sheet. They always sleep on top of their comforter and cover up with balnkets.

Just go climb in bed with them each morning and mess up their beds so they have to make them anyway.

That is sneaky! Wish I had thought of that when I was a child!

I used to do stuff like that when I was little and my mom would make wash the sheets after a week or two. I use either sleep with small blanket or an old sheet.

No, but my son told me some of his friends did that in the Marines. They would also keep perfectly folded stuff in their dressers that they would never use in order to pass inspection, and put their everyday stuff somewhere else.

#1 We only use a bottom sheet and comforter for reasons another poster mentioned.

#2 I don't believe in making beds! :lmao: It's a foreign concept to me!

Not every night... but for sure after a good room cleaning for at leat three or four nights. For the exact same reasons too. I dont blame them. Why the heck not? We have a big basket of throw blankets for watching tv so they both just grab one of those.

I dont care. It doesnt bug me in the least. It shows they can work around a system that they dont like. ;) and we all know that in the grown up world there are PLENTY of systems that need a good work around anyway!

My 14 year old DD sleeps like this every night! I even bought her really expensive sheets for her bed, but she still likes to sleep on top and under a blanket. Weird.

I sleep with my sheets and a Disney blanket. No comforter because I can't seem to get it on straight.

LOL - my DD will be 17 in 3 weeks & does this.

When she was younger her favorite part of going on vacation was the fact that she didn't have to make her bed. Imagine her disappointment when we bought into DVC & she found out there is no daily housekeeping!

I did this through my teenage years and when my mother finally told me that if I was going to sleep on that bed, I had to get under the covers, I started sleeping on the floor. Yes, did that for a last year I lived at home on hardwood floors; I kept a sleeping bag in the closet.

My children are grown now but I've never told them this story.

I sleep with a bottom sheet and comforter as well. DBF has grown accustom to it, even though he is Army, so when we change the sheets the top sheet has to go on, until I kick it off the bed the first night in my sleep:lmao:

One of my sons has just started doing that! He had me laughing when he told me that he doesn't want to waste his "valuable time" making his bed in the morning! Valuable time? I told him that he is 6 and 6 year olds can spare a minute to make their beds. :rotfl2:

DD does this. She only has her comforter on her bed to begin with, how hard it is it to make--probably as hard as it is to put her dirty clothes in her basket too I guess :lmao:

My DD8 does that too, right after her room gets a good cleaning!
