Hi everyone! My DH and I leave in 12 days and now I am starting to worry that we will have bad weather. I know this is the chance you take when traveling during hurricane season...but I worry. We fly in on October 2nd and that night we are going to MNSSHP. I am so worried it is going to rain that night. Is anyone else worried. Pixie Dust needed!! :umbrella:

We're going the last week of October and hoping for good weather, too.

We were there late October/early November in '98 and did get hit by the remnants of a hurricane which had hit the coast. We did get an all day rain (much of it a real soaker) but not severe weather. We've also been there in pretty rainy weather in February.

Just remember - you are going to WDW. You will have fun - you will find plenty to do. Make sure you pack a poncho or rain gear and have fun!

uncgsweetz16 - We're leaving from BWI on Oct. 2nd also. I'm hoping and praying for good weather. Last year we managed to time it just right between two hurricanes. We left the airport (MCO) at 10 AM I think last year on a Saturday and the airport shut down at 3 PM I think. (Just a little nervous)

Hope you have a wonderful vacation.

Not worried a bit! We leave in 11 days and it is looking clear. Of course there is always a chance of rain but that is why we have plenty of ponchos!

Everyone going in October is worring about the weather. Just scroll down a few threads and you can see plenty of posts on the subject.
Were leaving on the 1st, so I have been interested in the weather also. The only storms right now are Rita, and Phillpe. It looks like Rita is pretty much going to affect only the southern portion of Florida and head for Texas, Phillpe is making a right turn and heading north which means it wont hit Florida, and might not even make landfall anywhere.. There is another low pressure wave forming in the Atlantic, but its to far out there to make any predictions on what, if anything its going to do.
My opinion (for what its worth, and thats not much ;)) is that the weather will be fine. Keep in mind that Orlando sits far inland and WDW has had very few days in which it had to be closed for bad weather.
From my vast knowledge of traveling to WDW in October, (4 times in 12 years :rotfl: ) it generally rains most days in the late afternoon for about an hour. Not a big deal.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and an eye on the tropical update. The Orlando forecast for the next 10 days says highs around 88 and lows around 67. Rain doesn't scare me. If it rains, it might keep the locals away, right?

We leave in 11 days - Yippeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

rain in Disney World is better than rain in Chicago!! i just want to get there and SOON!! After getting married during Frances and being stuck in my Hotel room we are ready for anything haha!

We leave in 20 days and I'm hoping as time gets closer we won't have any weather problems at all . . .I've come to the realization that I have to take things day by day.

Keeping my fingers crossed for all you who go before us.

We went last year October 17-October 26 and the weather was perfect. It was in the mid-80s in the daytime and high 60s at night.

It rained one night for about an hour while we were watching Wishes at Mk, but we were sitting in the Plaza Pavillion CS near Tommorrowland and avoided getting wet and had a great view of the castle.

Have fun!!!

I hope the weather doesn't prevent us from getting there. After that, I'm not worried about the weather. I just can't wait to go!

i see you live in maryland what airport are you going out of? we are leaving out of dullas at 8:30am and staying at pop. also we are going to mickey's party that night.yes i am also concerned about the weather and to the point i won't watch the weather channel. if i see anything about the weather it will be on here. i do not want to get more stressed out. i had to already change my plans because of the gas situation so i will just hope and pray mother nature will soon get over her pms and chill in time for my vacation. heres sending you some pixie dust and hope you have a good time like i will be doing.

I leave on the 1st and right now I am more worried about the crowds that week than anything! This is a once in a lifetime trip for our family and I thought I picked a great week but I guess everyone had the same idea I did. Oh well!!

We are going the last week of October, and honestly, I'm not going to let myself stress out over how the weather is going to be. We went the same time in 2003 and I think it only rained once on us during the week.

I'm leaving September 30 and am worried about the crowds and the weather.. hoping neither will bother us!

Me too. If it rains once I'm there I don't care. But I just want to be able to get there!!!

Weather. It just is. Nothing shy of being blown from the map will keep me from my appointed rounds!! Nothing, I say!!!
You just try to keep me from this trip, you just try....I dare ya!!!

We are going to MNSSHP on Oct. 2 and I am concerned about the rain, also.
But we always take a backpack with our ponchos and a couple of hand towels just in case. I remember it raining one year we were there and I wish I had packed an umbrella, too. (so obvious - I can't believe I would forget)
Let's just pray for clear weather - no hurricanes! :flower:

pirate: We are heading to WDW the second week in October. We were at WDW the first week in October last year. The weather was sunny and 88 degrees everyday. Not a single drop of rain. I'm hoping for more of the same this year. :wizard:

Been there numerous times in Oct and am not worried in the least - have never really had bad weather. Truthfully the chances of a hurricane are small and whatever happens, happens - and we'll be there, regardless.

When I went in 90 it poured one day and being teenagers and thinking we were too "cool" for ponchos so we all bought umbrellas. We bought plain black ones with one mickey on the top somewhere. Well, my umbrella JUST broke recently. It was one of the best umbrellas I ever had. Even though that stuff can be expensive, it is certainly worth it. So if it rains, you get a great, long lasting souvenier. :teeth:
