Anyone else worried about the weather in October?!

Hi pouty tink. I don't know if federal Cort Jury duty is the same in all states, but my fried go called for it here in NJ and she has to go every Friday for the next 18 months! They select 24 people. I think 18 go and 6 people are alternets incase someone cannot come due to vacations, sick etc. She did not have to go at first, but was called in when someone else could not make it. So if you are picked you should still be able to go on vacation. Don't feel too bad my friend got picked for both federal and local jury duty in the same week!

We will be arriving at WDW on Oct 1st. I have been keeping an eye on the weather. Hoping for no hurricanes, rain I can deal with. We will also be at MNSSHP on Oct 2. Let's all hope for good weather! :sunny:

Thanks for the info!! I found somewhere on the net if you have a paid vacation that you need just send the info to them and I guess they give you a temporary excuse.. Well see if that works or not!! How horrible for your friend gettin hit with a double whammy like that :earseek:

We will also be at the MNSSHP on the 2nd!! Whats your costume? Where will you be staying?

You should be able to delay jury duty at least once before they demand that you show up.

So there are a lot of us Marylanders headed down to the World next month? I'm taking the autotrain down Oct 1 and get a nice long 2 week stay in the world. Staying off property as we're Marriott Vacation Club owners.

I'd have a lot to worry about between the train, the car, the weather, etc. but escaping work and health problems has been more pressing. Headed to my first MNSSHP on Oct 13. (We wanted to slowly indulge ourselves over the trip.)

If you see a guy in an Orioles or Ravens cap say hi. That's my dad (I'll be somewhere nearby).

We were there last March and had some of the coldest and rainiest weather of the past few years. Traveling in October is new for us. So far hurricanes have been headed south or east. And considering central Florida is hit maybe once in 50 years, I figure they got their fill last year.

i use to live in adelphia and rockville md in my partying days. but i'm from va. just going to dullas cause has straight through flight. but will look for the hat. i will have my son's pooh bear,he will be my pal mickey on the trip. he wants to have his pic with pooh. :cool1:

I've been glued to the tv news/weather for weeks. We're not leaving until Oct 13, but I'm keeping my eye on any storms that might form on the other side of the Atlantic. Rain, rain go away!

uncgsweetz16 - We're leaving from BWI on Oct. 2nd also. I'm hoping and praying for good weather. Last year we managed to time it just right between two hurricanes. We left the airport (MCO) at 10 AM I think last year on a Saturday and the airport shut down at 3 PM I think. (Just a little nervous)

Hope you have a wonderful vacation.

Hey neighbor!! We are leaving BWI on the 4th.. I got married in Disney columbus day weekend last year and we watched a hurrican like Rita go through the gulf, We were so scared. The weather was hot humid and sticky. I always thought going in Oct meant that you could feel comfy and not nasty..

Have a great trip.. Are you packed yet.. We will be at MNSSHP on the 6th.. We will be dressed as Renaissance Royalty..

A paid vacation is NOT a guarantee that you'll get off. It depends on the Judge. As "can'twait" said, you can postpone your jury duty. Your best bet is to simply postpone your dates, if they fall within your trip. It's easy to do and it's right on the jury summons.

I am more worried about the crowds than the weather! I guess I can't worry about both so I am :goodvibes fixated on crowds! How were they last columbus day? If they were very bad I don't even want to know! I have always gone to WDW in the summer untill Dec 2003 and I think that I am going to be spoiled by how quiet it was then. See you at MSSSHP on the 6th!! DH30th Bday!!

Hi Pouty_tink. We are staying at POR. DH and I are not dressing up. I am going to ry to find a halloween t-shirt before we go. DS5 will be dressed up as Mr. Incredible. (he really wants to be Dash). I suggested to DH that we get Incredible shirts to wear, but he is just not in to the whole dressing up thing. I don't get it since Halloween is on of his favorite holidays. What are you dressing up as? Where are you staying? :) Are you flying out of LVI or Newark?

We went in Oct 2003 and had great weather.

Have a great time!

LOL We havent decided on costumes.. he seems to be draggin his feet helping me come up with ideas.. We are staying POR also, and our MNSHHP is on the 2nd. We are leaving out of LVI, despite the layover in Pitt, it was just easier then traveling to Philly, or Newark.

Pouty tink-We are flying out of Newark. We wanted a non stop flight-even though we are probably closer to LVI.Our flight gets in to Orlando at noon. Good luck deciding on your costumes! One of my friends went last year and her and her husband just bought eye patches, hats and swords from the shop outside Pirates. They said the party was a lot of fun! I can't wait! :Pinkbounc

I leave in 16 days and I am very worried. I have been planning (any paying on ) this trip for 2 years and am worried about hurricanes. My 7y/o daughter doesn't even want to go on the trip becasue she is so scared.
I am trying to live bythe philosophy of if I'm gonna die I might as well die at my favorite place on earth. :earboy2:

Another Marylander checking in here. We're leaving from BWI on October 1, and checking in at ASMu on October 2. Going to MNSSHP on October 6! Can't wait!!

We have a Grand Gathering group going - started out with 8 of us and grew to 20!! We have people from MD, MI and VA going.

What can you do about the weather? Not much to do but pray for the best!

Let's hope Rita is the last hurricane for the U.S. in 2005!

Oh I hate to hear that. I'm pulling for weather like we've had in Maryland the last month... not too hot and not too cold. My dad's the one hoping for the "dog days of August" humidity... masochist!

Think if we blow hard enough we can get those hurricanes to just fizzle in the Atlantic well off the coast?

Are you packed yet..

Packing? What's that? Oh yeah, the stuff I do in a frazzle the night before I leave town. (One week from Saturday.)

I've got my pink Princess rain poncho in my backpack already. Seems to work in keeping the rain away. The only day I didn't have it last March it rained cats and dogs.

I'll look for Marylanders!

BTW, was in the Disney Store at Columbia Mall last night. The costumes are gorgeous and had me waxing poetical for my upcoming trip. Just 9 more days! :cheer2: :moped:
