I think the producers had to tell him to ask her dad. Since both Deanna and her dad said that they expected that, the producers prompted him to ask at the second family gathering.
Boy for someone who hated this show so much you sure watched alot of itMy sentiments EXACTLY!!!![]()

Then, why didn't he ask at the first gathering when he spent time with her dad?
I liked Jason and I liked Jesse.... I was glad to see Jesse and DeAnna together at the end. My heart was sad that Jason did not go home with a girl on his arm.
Jesse is a cool guy.. quirky-handsome, modern, athletic, curious--- kinda guy
Jason is a handsome-classic, athletic, father ----kinda guy.... jmho
I thought it to be a very observant statement when Jason said to D. ' You never looked at me the way you looked at Jesse or the way you looked at Graham'..... he was right...
alls well that ends well....May everone enjoy a life time of happiness!

Refinement and maturity will come in time, if it truly isn't there already. You can't teach someone to be fun-loving, but a person can learn how to be refined. While Jesse isn't probably the most comfortable in a suit, he carried himself well while he was in one. In order for him to be running the non-profit for poor kids who want to snowboard, he has to have some level of maturity that we were not shown on the program.IMHO, DeAnna needs to come to terms with these self identity issues, and DeAnna really needs a man who can click with BOTH sides of her!!! And unfortunately, that was not there on the show. The last of the men standing were either 100% one side (Jeremy and Jason with the maturity and refinement, but lacking the physcal fun loving side... or Jesse with the physical fun loving side, but lacking any refinement or maturity...)
