Anyone Else Upset About The Castle????

I haven't seen the big green wall, but when the refurbished the buildings in Italy they had a tarp that matched the original walls.

Also, I would definately change my trip to include Soarin...that is one AWESOME ride.

When a park is open 365 days a year, and a project cannot be completed in one night, walls are constructed for safety reasons, not to irritate guests. Parks in the more northern parts of the US that close during the winter can do everything at that time, but parks open for 365 days a year have to choose the least crowded time to do these things. When a guest chooses to go to year around parks during less crowded times, they are exchaging less crowding for attractions closed for refurbishments. I know that it is disappointing, but if they didn't do this, there would never be anything new, and attractions would never be refurbished, which would cause a whole new set of complaints. Think of it this way... next time you go to WDW, there will be something new and exciting for you to see and do!

OMG - How am I going to break this to DH? We are taking his parents on their first trip to Disney, and he's already not happy that IASW is still closed, and Dumbo will be closed, and CRT isn't having breakfast most of the days we will be there so we didn't get reservations. :guilty:

Oh well - on the bright side, I convinced him to get APs this trip, so we'll just have to go back within a year to see the renovated castle, renovated Small World, new Soarin' ride, etc... :teeth:

Now that I've seen the pics, I'm less worried about the wall and getting more and more concerned about the castle overhaul. We have ps for Cindy's breakfast on Feb. 8th for my DD's 10th birthday. This trip has been carefully planned out for months and I will be so disappointed if the castle is covered in scaffolding and tarps on the big day.
Does anyone know what the construction schedule is?

This is so sad. No Dumbo, no IASW, no CRT, the green monster (and I'm not talkin' about Sulley). Make them stop mommy! Make them stop!

Well, ok we must give up some things to make advancements but I was really hoping to walk in and see how beautiful everything is and the classic castle view. So now it sounds as if it will be the castle view with the green monster too.

What is the best time to visit the Green Wall? Are the lines busy in the morning? What about right after dinner? Can I get a Fast Pass for the Green Wall? I heard that the Green Wall was recently closed down for repair, can anybody confirm? My family loves the Green Wall!

We plan on June now, with several attractions down as well that I LOVE and ones coming like "SOARIN", I would rather wait a couple of months and feel like I am getting my moneys worth. We dont go often, and it could be a last time we are there for awhile, so hopefully you all understand at where I am coming from. The "wall" was just icing on the cake, sort of speak, to why I should just wait a couple of months. Our daughter will also not have to miss school, a plus as well!
D.D.
Remember, though, that the crowds will be many times worse in June than in February. Be sure to plan with that in mind!

The green walls in front of the castle will be up till March 18. I also understand they are going to start working on the sidewalks on Main St. at the end of Jan.

Thanks for that info. Sounds like it's going to be interesting in the MK by the time of our trip! LOL

Wow, what pretty pictures. I am soooo excited to go now. I am traveling in October and this looks like it might be a fantastic trip.

I missed the Pink Castle. I wish I could have been there then, weird I know but still.

This is going to be fun!

Not sure what they will put up when they do the sidewalks. When they do you know I will have pictures. :)

On my honeymoon I didn't get a picture of us in front of the castle because it was a big birthday cake. Didn't ruin my trip but the picture wasn't as romantic as I had hoped.

Ugh ... I remember that. It didn't ruin my trip, but I sure would've been disappointed if that were the ONLY trip to WDW I'd ever had or would have in the future! It was hideous!

After having the day I did your post made me laugh so hard - probably because I was thinking what you had the nerve to say....

General maintence and new construction has to take place time to time to keep the magic alive. I expect perfection when I'm there so I guess I have to put up with a few eye sores from time to time. :grouphug:

It's a world of laughter
A world of tears
It's a world of hopes
And a world of fears
There's so much that we share
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all

There is just one moon
And one golden sun
And a smile means
Friendship to ev'ryone
Though the mountains divide
And the big green wall is so wide
It's a small world after all

It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small world after all
It's a small, small world

That would not even enter my mind , I want to be there every night no matter what.

If you look at the photos, a little hassle like a small wall if front of the castle will be nothing compared with the end result. ...

ROYAL TREATMENT -- During "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom will become a celebration of Disney magic around the world. Graceful gold filigree will adorn its turrets. Banners, ribbons and tapestries will breeze from balconies.

I am so glad that we changed our trip from the first week of May to the 2nd! We arrive on the 6th, so (purely by accident) we'll be there for the first week of the celebration! Hurray!

Repeat after me.....A bad day at Disney World beats a good day at work....a bad day at Disney World beats a good day at work....

(ok - so I looked at the pictures and I love the castle and will hate to see it undergoing work, etc, but I will just be thrilled at all the other things going that I get to see and do! Yeah!!! Come on February!!!)
