Anyone else think Disney is getting Greedy?

Ok, this reminds me of a funny story (at least too me)...

I grew up in Ohio and then moved to FL after school. When my friends would come to visit I would ask them if they wanted to go to a seafood restaurant (you know, as in fresh seafood!) and they say, "yeah, let's go to Red Lobster!".

Uh...never mind!

OK, sorry for the thread jack!

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Growing up in Maryland I know exactly what you are talking about Joe!

We are a family of six and flight included are spending 10k on our trip. It is the result of about three years of squirreling away money here and there. We live in a modest ranch house and one of our two cars is an '03 venture. While we are not living in poverty, we are not privileged... although others might think we are, they have not seen what my wife and I have done over the course of a lifetime to have arrived at the point we are at. If one can spend 14k on a trip without blinking, then they might be privileged (or lucky, or reaping the rewards of their hard work). But many who go to Disney and SPEND do so with care and effort, and not riding their silver spoons.

I dare say most everyone on this message board is in the 1%. 99% of the worlds population makes less than $35k per year. There are roughly 6 billion people that make less than $10k per year. If you choose not to spend your money on Disney then that is fine. Disney is not being greedy by charging for their items. The fallacy of them being "too greedy" starts the slippery slope of "6 billion other people can't afford it, why not make it so everyone can afford it".

If you look at worldwide then I suppose that we are all in the 1%. We are indeed fortunate. However that doesn't mean that we can all afford what Disney is charging.

Hi, right back at ya! :)

Seafood is awful in Dallas! I don't know of a single good seafood restaurant in the whole area. I would imagine that Red Lobster looks good to many people here.

Because of seasonality? :lmao:

Now that I'm safely home and not bored standing in line and being antagonistic I have nothing to say about lettuce!

Nothing worse than standing in line trying to board a flight out of Orlando (business, not vacation) and watching the lighting, especially after you're already delayed 2 hours due to mechanical. 4 hours later...

Which airline? I've had a few of those delays and it doesn't take long to decide that there is nowhere duller than most airports.

Sorry but do you mean there is a pension? If that's the case that is a pretty amazing benefit does have the issue of possibly not getting paid out by some companies. It's one of the big draws for state jobs in Wisconsin. I know nothing about Disney labor issues though.

So sorry for the delay, have been out of town.

DH is not a park employee.

They stopped healthcare for those retired long ago but 35 years ago it was not at all unusual for a management level job to have a pension. Luckily Disney decided what hubby did was more of a Union position. What a windfall with the salary increase (Disney is well known for lousy wages) and best of all, pension protection through the Union. Even a healthcare plan in retirement.

HA-now Disney is doing all it can to eliminate Unions when the brought them in themselves--go figure.

Anyway......it's not like Disney cannot afford to pay their promises. Just GREED.

So many examples it would make your head spin!

Maybe next time we can discuss the sad state of the monorail cars and track from budget cuts. Ahhhh, has been beaten to death before.
