I've popped in here before but in spite of watching what I eat and exercising regularly (5+ days a week) for the last 2.5 years (with a 6 month break in there) I haven't been able to lose an ounce. Finally after seeing many doctors, I got one to take me seriously and I am on some thyroid medication and am FINALLY no longer feeling like death warmed over (just barely warmed over).

Anyway even though this is the absolute worst time of year for most people eating wise, I am going to attempt to get back into my healthy ways with the hope that I can actually have some success this time. I'm feeling so much better physically that i don't want to wait until the new year to get started, I want to get started NOW! The good part is that Curves is pretty much empty right now.

Anyone else deciding now is a good time to start in spite of christmas and new year's looming large? I figure if I can lose a few lbs, I can also count the 10 lbs I would have gained by not paying attention or exercising to that loss!

Hi Lisa! I just wanted to welcome you to the WISH board and wish you all the best in reaching your goals. I think starting now is an excellent idea! If you can keep it together through all the temptations that come with the holidays then I think you can keep it together any time! ::yes::

Hi, Lisa! I'm starting now AGAIN, too! It's going to be tough, but I'm glad to be back on track. Just think of where we'd be in January if we didn't start now? I know I'd be looking at the scale and I wouldn't be smiling!

Best wishes on your healthy living journey!

Erin

I made a decision over Thanksgiving break to just start eating sensibly and exercise regularly.

Over the last 12-18 months I have gained 37 lbs and I can't believe it to this minute.

It's probably going to take me at least that long to lose it so, I just decided to not get hung up on the number and do what I know is good for my body (not sure where my body is but it's under there somewhere).

So, I decided to ride the bike 30 minutes a day and do pilates every other day for right now. I used to walk every day for 3-5 miles and Drs told me not to because I was wrecking my knee (20 yr old injury that is bothering me again). So, I will try to get back into biking which was my exercise of choice back in high school and college anyway.

Well, good luck to you, it is a tough time of year. Co-worker brought in donuts on Thursday, but I resisted! Usually, I would eat 2 or 3! I love pastries! YUM! He actually came over and offered them to me, I said no, and he thought I was sick or something! So proud!

Im starting back now also. Luckily I don't run into a lot during the holidays except for the actual day. Patients bring in candy but I can resist that and just give it to the aftercare my sons go to. I just last night saw a professional picture taken of me and dh and I wanted to croak I looked so bad. I HAVE to start back now.

welcome back to eating healthy. This is actually one of the best times to start back up again in my opinion. Think of how much you would gain if you werent watching your weight and exercising. Even if you don't lose a single pound I would consider it a victory to remain at your current weight until the holidays are over! Best of Luck and a little ~*~*~pixie dust~*~*~ :wizard: coming youre way!

It's so tough, you are not alone. I'm trying to lose BEFORE Christmas this year to make headway on my New Year's Resolutions!! :grouphug:

Hi Lisa,
Starting now is wonderful. I agree with Lulu, just imagine where we'd be if we didn't start now. I'm starting over too. I've gained a lot these past few months and this is after making my goal with WW's at the end of June. We can do this! Sure it will be tougher this time of year, but we'll be steps ahead come January.

Hi all. I popped back in to see if there had been any replies and I'm happy to see there are some! I have been really struggling to eat really healthy since we've been going out to eat so much but today I made it to curves for the second time this week and I'm happy to say that I haven't backslid much in the way of measurements. My waist was even an inch smaller, although that fell to my hips. Still, I've been seriously watching portions (I can turn a restaurant meal into at least 2 if not 3 meals) even if I'm not watching what I eat, and I've been staying away from the sweets. I was also 2 lbs less on the curves scale with shoes than on the doctor's scale without (same kind of balance scale). I have an endo appointment in about a month and I would love to show him some progress!

My curves buddies locally have been letting me down about going so I am going to have to try to make it on my own for the most part. But still I am on :cloud9: because before taking these thyroid meds I would have easily gained 10 lbs in the last 6 weeks without exercising and with what I have been eating so I have lots of hope that with exercising and watching what I eat, I can make some progress.

I'm starting over as well...actually, I think I start over at the first of every month :cheer2:

I'm starting now I need to get exercise routine going and up to 5 days a week because next month I want to make 1000 minutes. :) :Pinkbounc

Next month also gonna start working on my eating more and try to stick to heatlhy foods and by more produce especially fruits and veggies to snack on.

Im a bit late but I didnt notice your post until today. I started about 3 days ago. very subtle for now but will build up my will and get more serious. Actually I think I have reduced the cals by a daily 500 but Im not sure. At least I got onto the treadmill 2 days in a row. day 1 was for about 1 hour and day 2 40 mins The last time I was on it was in late May so its a good start. I want to loose about 50 pounds over all and start to tone up on the gym. WISH me luck.
PS. I am affraid to get on the scales to see how much I weigh.
