Anyone else share their email account with their spouse?

Guess we are the abnormal ones. We each have private email accounts. We have been married 16 yrs, and got our first computer about 14 years ago. From that day, we just always had our own email accounts:confused3. I am a private person, and although I have done nothing bad, or illegal, or even talked to anybody of the opposite sex, I do like my privacy. He has no idea what my password is, and I dont know what his password is. I have no desire to go to his email account, and he has no reason to be in mine. For us it has always been that way:confused3

DH and I share the same email account. We have for many years now.

Same email. We do both have yahoo emails that we rarely use though so if we were expecting something about a surprise party or something we could do it there. We've never really had anything that we consider private from each other. We both usually open family emails etc. but leave friend emails for the other to retreive.

married 21 years - we share an email account, open each others snail mail, share bank accounts, know each others passwords for face boook etc etc etc....... honestly I can't imagine anything that we keep private from each other ....

My wife and I don't look at it as a matter of privacy, but rather not wanting to have to sort through each other's spam. :)

DH and I share. At the time we got internet service, we had no idea how to set it up as multiple accounts. Now that we get more e-mail, I just have it sort into different folders by who it's from, so we can each fine our own stuff anyway.

we don't share, we had seperate accounts when we met and it has stayed that way

i could not be bothered trying to find my emails in amongst the rubbish my husband gets lol

We have separate accounts, but almost anything that's bought via internet goes to my e-mail account, as well as all school, Boy Scout and camp e-mails. He mostly just gets stuff from his sisters and aunts.

I also have a work e-mail address but I use that strictly for work.

Most of the families I know have a shared account though.

We are the same except we have only been married 12 years.

Same. I just do not see the point of sharing. Like my husband really wants to wade through emails from my friend sending me pics of potential wedding dresses?

I'm not hiding anything from him, I leave my email up on my computer and he leaves his up on his. But I just do not find it my business to poke through his emails.

Yeah, this is how we do it, too. We just don't have any secrets although I try never to open any email/mail that looks private, just bills and so forth. He hardly checks our home email account, anyway. I also know his work email password and he knows mine, but, again, I only check that if he asks me to. Most of the time, each of us is too busy to pry. :)

We share. I usually end up being responsible for making sure he gets anything that is important. He'd rather not email, period.

That's like us. It's not about being open and honest. It's purely his lack of caring about e-mails, lol.

Nope we each have several of our own

I have my 2 through aol ( one is for some bills, other is for junk mail when i register for websites), 1 through gmail ( primary), 1 with yahoo that i dont think works, one at work, and one for school that bounces to my gmail account. I typically only check the gmail account and one of my aol accounts.

DH has a few too.

We do not have any secrets, but we do have privacy. I would never check his email account or open his mail. As to sharing work email passwords - my job would have a cow - too much sensitive data that would be at risk.

I don't need to know passwords - I have trust.

Dh and I do not share an email, and the emails I get are for me not him to read. I think him having access to those emails is an invasion of my privacy and the privacy of those sending me emails. I don't have anything to hide and I trust he would never read them, but because of that reason it was never an option for us to share an account. I don't want to have access to his emails either, they aren't my business.

I have an email address that I have had since before DH and I met, I have a work email for work stuff, now that I am back in school, I have school email for school stuff. DH has no home email address and 1 work address. About once every other month we sit down and I help him check his email for work. Thank goodness nothing gets sent to him that is urgent :rotfl: He is just starting to learn basic computer skills.

ETA...I would have no problem with DH opening my email or mail. However, I normally open all mail and/or packages that come in. It has always worked for us and I see no reason to change.

my parents did and my in laws do share-hubby and i do not-partly because our life situation requires that we email each other frequently-and that is just easier to manage with two mail boxes. And he really doenst want to know when i have ordered new bras-LOL
