When I was growing up that's what we had. It also had a 4-color light to shine on the tree. My siblings & I still talk about that tree...it wasn't even GREEN for crying out loud! I think our parents scarred us for life.. :)

Oh, and they never had a real (green) tree until the year I (the youngest) moved out. Not sure what that was about..

My great aunt still has her silver tree. Complete with bubble lights. My kids are captivated by that tree, and wish we had one in our house.

a sliver christmas tree?

celebrate the holdays with this great tree made completely of old cans and aluminum foil!!

Well then thats new i never heard that one.

I think my mom still has hers in the basement...I will have to remember to check. I loved that thing...with the rotating colored light thing that shines on it!!!

My mom said that my grandparents had one for a year when she was younger. She said it was the ugliest thing she had ever seen.

Yep. We had one too - early to mid 60's. My SIL bought one a couple of years ago and puts it up every year (as a secondary tree) with a cartoon theme. She's also got the 4-color wheel light. (I shocked myself plugging one of those in when I was 5 or 6 years old. OUCH!)

The Tune-In Lounge at MGM Studios puts one up every year to keep with the 50's theme. I always make a point to go see it whenever I'm at WDW while the Christmas decorations are up. :)

I collect those! My collection started with one that was my grandfather's. Now I have about 6. It's a rather small collection. ;)
I've got a vintage colorwheel, too.

Yep, my mom has one of those in her collection and she also has one that is ancient and made out of bird feathers!?!! :o

She was not born during the Depression, but has a "save everything" mentality. She does have some interesting stuff though.

I have two that were my mom's. We put up the pompom tree last year with red, white and blue decorations. There were also five other trees up. It was quite a novelty.

yep I remeber that and what about a cardboard firplace for people who didn't have one, I really believed he came down that to get our presents to us. LOL :D

hmm...i like that idea...........It may be ugly but it's good for the planet:D

Ikea had some on display last week. ( not sure if they are for sale, or just part of a room display)

They were silver with blue balls... They actually looked very nice.

My grandparents had one as well.

It's nice to know others suffered through a silver christmas. I always attributed it to My Mothers eye sight. Because she couldn't see it she thought it was beautiful.

Melt the tree back into cans. LOL!

I remember them! Loved the rotating color wheel. They really were pretty.:D

Glad to see that others remember the silver trees! :)

And GailT..we had one of those cardboard fireplaces!!!! And I too thought Santa came down it :)

I have one in my family room right now! A six-footer with colored shiny balls and a color wheel twirling AND the WDW monorail set (complete with Contemporary and Spaceship Earth) circling the base! Very retro/cool.

(It's not our only tree - but it's our most fun.)

My Grandmom had one and I thought it was really cool!

My grandparents had one when I was a kid. I love looking at the old pics of the tree and decorations.

We had one complete with color wheel. I thought it was pretty. Just saw that one of the shops downtown has one in the window as part of their Christmas display. Do you think they are coming back or just nostalgia?

Dodie, please take a picture of your tree! I would love to see it.

Growing up we always had a real tree but I remember my 6th grade classroom had a silver tree with the color wheel. I thought it was so cool!
