I am so excited and I can't tell anyone! DH & I have been planning a quick weekend trip to surprise our DDs for the fall. They think we're not going back until Nov 2008, and I am so excited to surprise them. It started out a quick 3 night trip, then upgraded to club level, then added a night cuz we thought it would be easier to fly in the afternoon then early am, now today we decided to add another night. Our quick little trip has turned into a 6 day vacation. DDs will be so excited but we want to wait to tell them the day before, and we haven't told anyone else either, so no one slips up to the kids. Anyone else planning a surprise trip now?

I am in the VERY EARLY planning stages of a surprise trip. Right now I'm just working out dates but I plan on surprising them with a trip next Christmas, December '08. :santa: I'm just hoping that I can make it all the way through without letting it slip!! ;)

Yes, we're surprising our two boys with a trip in September. We usually go every two years (on the even years) but decided we couldn't pass up free dining to go this fall.

We didn't get to take a family vacation this summer (oh, the drama at home, what a story... ) and they've been so good about not complaining about getting to go anywhere.

They have no idea we're going...we're trying to decide how to pack for them without them knowing. We may tell them we're going to visit family in Atlanta and then not say anything else and see how long it takes them to figure out we're driving SOUTH instead of NORTH. :rolleyes1

My only worry is that we'll have to pull them out of school for five days. They've never been pulled out before and I'm hoping that it doesn't disrupt their schedule too much. I've already consulted the school calendar to make sure that they're not doing any serious testing that week so maybe we'll be okay. I do plan on letting the principals and teachers know well ahead of time so we can get any work done before we go (in a perfect world, right?).

That being said...

I. AM. SO. EXCITED. :wizard:

We are planning a trip just DH, DS and myself for Jan/08. We are not really telling our families because well, they will want to come along and those who just dont get it will say,"disney again!?"

Does it count if I'm planning a trip for next year, on paper at least, and I haven't sprung it on DH yet? DH keeps saying he's sick of WDW and I keep telling him I don't really NEED to go every year... we can take a year off:lmao: we just went in Feb and the kids and I are already going through detox.... what is that man thinking:laughing:

I'm planning a trip in Jan. 2008, but we haven't told the girls. It won't be surprise, because I like discussing and anticipating with DD7. I would like to at least pass the 6 month mark (my ADR 180 days is Sunday). We went last Jan., and DD7 knew from the March before. It was just a very long wait for her. I'm going to try to wait until Thanksgiving, which will be about 2 months before. I may not make it though! (My other DD is 2 and, therefore, has no concept of time!)

I'm afraid to put the date in my sig for fear that DD7 will see it!

I've planned our first trip at Fort Wilderness without my family knowing. We are still shopping for our camper so I kinda put the cart before the horse ;) :flower1:

We are planning a surprise trip for September. We have two dds - one who is 10 and one who is 3. This is our first time doing the ddp. We have an early morning flight and are not telling them until we wake them up that morning. Actually, Tinkerbell is going to leave a trail of pixie dust to an invitation to come to WDW to visit her. We have never done this before and we are so excited :cool1: :dance3: :cool1:

I have to plan all our trips secretly because my 6 yr old daughter will drive me crazy until the day we arrive!!! Two years ago (our first trip) I let her know 15 min outside of Orlando....last year, I let her know about two weeks inadvance. We have a Disney Cruise planned with 2 days at WDW for January 2008.....this time I will probably let her know about 1 month out, she's getting older and now the waiting is "anticipation" rather than "frustration"!!!

Also, DH's vacation time is "iffy", so, I would hate to get her all excited and then have to cancel the trip....it's better not to tell her until we are completely sure!

She's going to catch on, because I keep saying "the next time we go to WDW, would you rather stay at WL or POLY? Cindy's Castle or Norway?

We have also booked a trip for Sept. We have 3DD's (9, 6 & 5) and they don't have a clue. This will be their first trip to WDW. We don't plan to tell them until the morning we leave. We are still trying to decide how we want tell them. We planned on some type of invatation. The pixie dust idea sounds like a good touch..our girls are really into the Disney Princesses so we may go with that theme.

Whatever we decide to do I will have the video camera rolling to capture their expressions. :dance3:

We are also planning on the sly for March'08. If the boys don't figure it out before then it will be a minor miracle. DH and I are so excited we keep slipping up a bit.
We don't want to tell them even on the day we leave...Otherwise I know the hyper "Are we there yet" will be asked at rapid fire succession for the entire flight. Best to keep them in the dark and have fun messing with them...tell them we are going to visit Santa or something... :rotfl:

My mom & I are planning a surprise trip for DD's 6th birthday next month. Usually the kids are part of planning our trips, so this is something new for me and for them and so far so good. Of course, I only booked 5 days ago, and I still have 24 days left to keep it quiet. :rotfl: DH & my BFF are the only people who know we're going, because I don't want anyone else to let it slip accidentally, but the real question is if I can keep the secret!

I started working on my touring plans last night, and I think I've decided how to tell - I think I'll print up a copy for each of the kids, and when they start getting bored on the ride to the airport (and I know they will - it is about 3 hours in the car, plus a stop to pick my mom up), I'll give them their copies to keep them busy. ;)

Well, officially, Fall doesn't start until 9/23, so you actually ARE taking a summer trip. :)

Sorry, my mom's b'day was the 22nd, so I'm very familiar with the equinoxes and when they usually fall, LOL.

I only wish I were planning a surprise trip to WDW! But that would be a pretty big surprise, as we're going to CA for my high school reunion and then going down to DL in the middle of the Northern CA trip. :) DH would be a *bit* surprised by the much longer flight!

Next year, though....although the DL trip has been so very excellent at getting my 3 year old to go to sleep, or to switch moods (not by threatening to take it away, but by asking him to talk about all that he'll do, and letting him know that he can dream about it in his sleep), that I can't quite imagine NOT having that help! :upsidedow

I am in the same situation as a previous poster, if I tell my daughter about it she will drive me nutz!

All I have told her is that we are going on a family vacation where it is warm and there is a pool. She is going to freak out when she finds out it is WDW.

We are planning a surprise trip for December. My DD10 has no idea, especially because we keep saying how tired we are of going to WDW, NOT! We are also going with friends who have a DD6 and DS3 and the kids have never been there. We are planning on telling DD at Thanksgiving. This way, it's less than 2 weeks away. The even bigger suprise is that we're not telling her about going with our friends until the night before we leave. We are driving and they are flying down. We are just going to casually drop by their house and pick up the little ones extra car seats. :rotfl: They are going to go crazy:rotfl:
