anyone else pick up a new iPod nano?

bigger screen, built in fm radio, video camera! and 20 less then older nano! Very sweet I must cay. I just got home with my new green nano and am playing around with it. Anyone else have no self control and rush out and pick up a new one?

Didn't run out to get one, but I have a quick question for you....

My niece currently just has a plain old music only ipod. No video ect...

I've been thinking of getting her a new one with video for Christmas, she is only 14 and I don't think she cares at all about having a radio in her ipod, so would the now old 4th Generation nano be a good choice for her? I'm thinking the prices on them should probably drop, I saw a 8GB one already on Amazon for $118.

sure if you dont think she cares about radio or being able to shoot video the 4th gen would be fine. heck the 16gb are down to 150 on amazon right now. I would recommend springing the extea 25 for the 16gb is you think she is going to want to keep any videos on it. I am always amazed at how quickly I found my old 8Gb was full.

I actually just bought a 4th gen. Nano last week, and I'm glad I got one while they were still available. The one thing that has always bothered me with iPods is the shiny high-gloss material they're made of, which shows fingerprints very easily. The video cam. is a nice option, but not something I would use on a regular basis.

OMG, this post totally made my day!!!! I have been waiting for the new Nano to come out. DH is buying me one for Christmas. I can't tell you how happy I am about the radio feature. I love morning radio, and it will be perfect for my early morning walk. The video feature looks cool too! I have a gen 1 that I use for podcasts only, and an ipod touch for everything else. I guess I am an audio junkie. DH is ready to order my purple Nano! Can I wait till Christmas?

the radio is a nice feature, wish it had AM radio tho as I am a talk radio junkie. Played with the camera and it pretty cool. A bunch of different 'lenses' standard, xray, thermal, kaleidoscope and like 10 others. also has built in pedometer which I havent tried out yet.

Too bad about the am radio. I personally never listen to it, strictly fm or Satellite. There are some nice local programs I like to listen to on FM however. Stupid question, can I transfer video to my Macbook? I'm sure I can through imovie, but wondered if you had tried it.

Mine was ordered yesterday - green. My current green iPod is two years old. Nothing wrong with it, but the new ones have some pretty cool features.

Not sure I will use the radio. For the past two years, I have not listened to the radio. Only podcasts whereever I go!

We ordered our from Apple. Same price, but you can get free engraving. We put our e-mail addresses on the back. Hopefully, if we lose it, an honest person will want to send it back. Also, if you like red or yellow, you can only get that directly from Apple.

I am tempted by the Touch for the cool apps (Toy Story). But is is just too big to easily carry around.

You're right about the touch, it is very bulky. I leave it at home. I love the Apps though, you can even get Kindle on it, if you like that kind of thing. I am looking forward to my streamlined Nano.

Have I been living in a cave? I didn't even know the new iPods have come out! This might go on my birthday/Christmas list. Mine is almost 4 years old and feels like a brick.

Exactly. I have been using my son's old Gen 1 Nano for walks. When I travel, I take the 2 ipods, the touch and the Nano. I use the touch to check e-mail, and download podcasts. I also use it for Pandora radio and Kindle. I really love it and use it for all that, however I like the smaller units for streamlined workouts! Oh and one more thing I don't like about the Touch, in order to pause it, you have to unlock the screen. Kind of inconvenient. I am excited about the new Nano!

I am actually surprised at how good the video looks. I took some video at my nephews birthday party yesterday and late last night played it back full screen on my PC and was very shocked to see how good the quality was. Considering the machine cost less then the previous one and had more features I was thinking the picture quality would be mediocre. Thought it would look fine on the 2.2 inch screen of the ipod but expected it to look horrible when on a big screen, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that wasnt the case.

I just replaced my 1st Gen iPod Touch, largely so I could play TSM (which is awesome!) and now this new Nano is out! I sooooo want it! But can't justify it. Can I?

I prefer to use my old iPod shuffle for workouts, but since that got shorted out in a surprise rainstorm a few weeks ago I'm back to using the iPod Touch. I have an accessory it fits into that straps around my arm. Once it's on it's no big deal.

The new colors are so cool, and video?? Insert salivating emoticon now!

That's really good to know, b/c I was wondering how the video would look on a bigger screen! Hopefully I can save it on my laptop w/o having to sync the Nano to view it.

I love my Ipod Touch - so much I am toying with getting the Iphone (work has approved the upgrade - they will pay for the Data plan and I pay for the phone plan). I carry my Ipod Touch with me all the time on my belt along with my current cell phone. Yes, it is a tad bulky, but I use a Pedometer application to record my steps when I walk listening to the podcasts.

If you get the iPhone, then you can carry one device instead of two. Sounds like a good plan to me!
