First of all let me say the Dream is a fantastic ship and we had a great time. We did have a few dissapointments. First night the seas got quite rough shortly after departure. We had early seating and could definately feel the rocking as we sat down. Rough durring the 8:00 show and walking down the halls. Tough to sleep at night as well. We had been on the Magic several years ago and did not feel anything. Asked a few crew members the next day and they all acknowledged the seas were as rough as they had seen for quite a few weeks.

Windy on day one in Nassua, and day two was not any better. Captain tried several times to get the ship into the port at CC but by 9:00 AM they announced we would not be landing for safety reasosns. Winds were at 30 knots and so we spent the day at sea. They did a good job finding sun and calm waters, added lots of activities but was still a bit dissapointing.:sad::sad:

A few tears were shed, but then realized it was still better than a 20 degree day home in MN...

Sorry you missed CC :(

Winds were to strong last year on our March 6 cruise to dock there too....Hoping we get to go next week though!

Bummer about CC. Just wondering what type of additional activities did they schedule?:)

We were there - and echo all your sentiments.
It was our second cruise - with our first on the Wonder, which probably had rougher seas our first night - but calmed down for the rest of the cruise. March 3 rocked and rolled the whole time. And never felt worse than when I visited my parents in 8504 (corner room). Yuck!

I only noticed a few extra activities, like a few extra movie showings and an extra bingo session. Oh, and a video and chat on "the making of the Dream" (in which we first year passengers were openly referred to as guinea pigs!)

I'm not sure what else they could have done for our impromptu day at sea, but the disappointment of missing Castaway Cay was hard to get over with the lack of 'Disney Magic' in reacting to to it.

But I am thankful that we did have calm waters for a few hours :)

They came out with a revised Navigator by about 11:00. Opened Oceaneers Club for the kids, added a couple movie showings including one in the large Walt Disney theatre, and added some character meetings.

I was there too. I always notice the rocking on the first night..this was my 9th cruise....and I didn't think it was anymore than any other Disney cruise I've been on.

It was sad to watch the attempts to dock at CC and then hear it wasn't going to happen...I am guessing that their Plan B is similar to their longer cruises where there is a "day at sea"...I had no problem with activites they added....my children enjoyed the club and I enjoyed being on deck and taking in the sun....and lunch in Royal Palace...and the slow pace of the day. We had booked parasailing...so, the money I brought for that....I applied towards REBOOKING!!! :cool1:

We were there too, but B2B from the Feb. 27th sailing so it was less disappointing to us to miss CC, but we were still somewhat sad. It was heartbreaking though to see a bride and groom getting pictures on the grand staircase, knowing they were missing their dream wedding on a sandy beach...

We thought they didn't add much extra either and also thought it took quite a bit of time to get out the new Navigators but then one crew member told us it was the 1st time the Dream had missed CC, so realized they were scrambling in a new situation. We were happy to have another sea day to mostly relax and yep, it was better than being home in MN...

Oh ya, we've been waiting for someone to mention the sound issues at Pirate Night Fireworks and then the lack of the "show" with it. Again, we had seen it on our 1st cruise, so not too disappointed except that we had nabbed front row seats to see Jack Sparrow. Son was rather sad, but there was a little girl, maybe 7-9 years old near us who was SO sad. Her mom just had to hold her. We saw crew working REALLY hard trying to fix the sound though and they looked STRESSED...

We too we not happy about the problems with the Pirate show...we were excited about seeing this new show. I must say regarding Jack Sparrow that Disney has messed up a great thing by not having Jack out for pics! We always looked forward to seeing him....one of our favorite character experiences for sure! I hope they will bring him back! Along the same line...."See you later" or "Till we meet again"....I really hate they aren't including charcters from the shows like on past cruises....again that was something special to look forward to....the new lacked that magic....although nice...I guess having experienced the other I felt it was a let down. But, the cruise is still full of Disney magic!!!! Love it!

My DD 15 was there. She wasn't really disappointed because she had never really experienced a sea day.

We were also on this cruise and were very disappointed about not getting to go to CC. It was our first cruise ever.

We also found the seas rough the first and last night. Spoke to a cast member and they found it bad on the first night as well. We have nothing to compare it to so we weren't sure what to think.

When the captain came on and announced that we weren't going to CC we looked out the window expecting huge seas. But it didn't seem that bad, and the wind speed on the tv showed to be only twenty something?? Not the fifty something I thought he said. Maybe I mis heard what he said. I think he said the Dream was built to withstand 35 mph winds. Wouldn't it have to be more than that to sail across the Atlantic?

Also disappointed with the fireworks and the sound problems. I would have thought they would have tried again the next night.

Yes....We were on it!

I really did have a problem with a few things....

1.) There was nothing even like a "Pirate Party" ......It was 1,500 people standing around @ 10;30 , waiting for something to happen......DCL did not have a plan and there were bairly any crew members around.......Kinda disappointing!

2.) I concur with another reviewer....I was awake when we tried to dock 2 times.....The water was pretty flat & the television data said the the winds were in the 20's mph but the Captain said on the PA that the winds exceeded 50 mph .......that was strange. I also wonder why they didn't give it an hour and try again????

3.) The drinks of the day on the 1st day were $9.00 each..... I remember the D_O_D being cheaper........

ON THE PLUS SIDE......
The service was great! The food was great! The ship is beautiful!!!!!!

Disney will say that weather is something that they can't control.....
But on a 3 day cruise that 1 stop to Castaway Cay is the main attraction and it really changes the feeling of the cruise.......

we come here and vent!
My wife has an email into Disney but we're sure we'll get a form letter back.
:rolleyes1
