Anyone else not very big on the "parties"?

We don't do the sail away party. We did it the first time and now we just go to the spa during it or hang out on our verandah. It's a nice way to sail away without all the noise. It is fun the first time though, at least do it once to enjoy the feeling of excitement!

When did a mosh pit become a negative thing? I have fond memories of mosh pits lol. 1st Disney cruise so we'll attend both, but with a toddler I will be fine watching from a distance and leaving early to match her mood and attention. Is deck 6 too low to see fireworks? we are deck 6 midship starboard on the Dream and would love to watch them from there. If my DD hates it we walk inside and close the door.

We have done enough Disney Cruise vacations that we have skipped the last few sail away parties. And lucky enough on some cruises to be on the side of the ship that the fireworks are being shot off from and we can watch from our verandah. If we couldn't view them from the verandah we would look for a more quiet part of the ship to watch them from. Just not into the show/crowd anymore.

My favourite place to watch the fireworks on the classics is Palo...whilst eating a chocolate soufflé.
I was only lucky enough to go to Palo three times, but twice that was on pirate night at firework time!

We aren't in the action for the parties but we do like the fireworks. So we are usually on deck 12. It's great for watching the fireworks, and it's not crowded.

Occasionally I will skip the sail-a-way party but I do enjoy participating in the Pirate Night festivities.

I've been trying to figure out a good spot to watch the fireworks that isn't on the pool deck; where exactly do you watch, can you remember?

I watch from Deck 13, starboard side, but we never have kids with us.

Love the sail away party, we usually watch from deck 12. The pirate party...first time a talking skull head came zooming out of the large screen at him, my 5 year old lost it. We've had to stay away since lol and he's now 9!

When I got older and can't handle that many people that close together.....LOL

Also when the people started getting violent in them, although this is less of an issue at Disney.

For the sail away, I try not to miss the countdown. Other than that, I avoid the chaos. For Pirate Night, we watch the fireworks, but the rest is just too crowded. Also, we always go to Palo on Pirate Night nowadays.

The parties are a bit crowded for us, I haven't done a sail away party on any cruise in a very long time. I do like watching the fireworks, so we go and see those.

The Sail Away Party is a never miss for us - I guess it just really hypes us up even more for the cruise. It's a great way to really get even more excited and to kick off the cruise, especially when they blow the horn. The Pirate Party, I'm over. On the last 7 day cruise I went on with my mom and sister in 2015, we watched the fireworks from our verandah, deck 7 room 7520, which was on the starboard side. I don't remember if there was a note about being out on the verandah during the fireworks or not, but we watched them out there anyway. This year on the 10 night Southern Caribbean, it was my husband's first DCL cruise and he wanted to experience everything so we were on deck 12 and were there for the whole party.

All in all, any of the parties we go to, even for the 4th of July deck party they had this past cruise, we stood on deck 12 and watched everything. It's less crowded and I don't need to be in the thick of things down below with all the pushing kids. I'm around enough of those during the school year (kindergarten teacher). :teacher:

I've seen the sailaway party a few times. I've seen the pirate party a few times. I've passed the atrium during dance parties. All are solid nopes now. There is nothing there of interest enough to join the crush of humanity. Thankfully, when everyone attends the parties it leaves other venues more peaceful and sparse. Peaceful and less people-y is where I want to be! LOL!

We find a place to watch the fireworks and sit apart from the party.

Last year's DVC Members Cruise was actually the first time in a long time that I went to and enjoyed the Sail Away Party. I think it was because we were sailing out of NYC,

I love the parties and it's actually one of the things my 9 year old son and I love to do together. I'm going to savor it because soon he'll be too old for dance parties with mom!!

We actually attended ALL of them on our last cruise - there was a pretend New Years eve party one night that we were two of maybe ten people there!! And Goofy came in and danced with us!

Oddly enough, we're both introverts on the shy side, but Disney works it's magic on us and gets us to party. I don't mind if others don't like them though - more room for dancing.

Anyone know if they're still doing the Frozen party on the Magic? Seen it the past two years in the Med, it was particularly bad, we only gave it a second chance last year in hope that they'd improved it. Nope, still terrible. We'll be skipping that if it's still there this year.

Never miss the Sail Away, like to enjoy it from a distance though
