Anyone else not really care about view?

Generally I dont care about the view, unless I'm staying in a resort on the beach. To me there is no point staying there if I'm not looking at the ocean off of my balcony.

Count me in! Couldn't care less about the view. We typically stay deluxe and I want the biggest bang for my buck so it's typically standard for us. Even if we stay CL, I'll take SV or GV. I usually just put in a request for a quiet room, near the main building (if we are in Poly, GF). We actually once booked a 1-bedroom standard villa at AKL and ended up overlooking a building and some fencing that must be used to store food or other animal supplies because every morning almost EVERY animal was outside our balcony - it was awesome!

Glad there are others like us! Never paid for a view at a mod or value. I caved in and booked garden view at BC because I was worried that I paid "all that money' and we'd be hearing delivery trucks/buses beeping at odd hours. We had a view of an overgrown leafy area. Better than trucks I suppose.

When in the room, we typically have the shades drawn since we're going to bed. When we stayed at the Poly, we just walked down to the beach to see EWP and Wishes.

I've always like our room locations! Nice to save money somehow!!

I tend to make very generic room requests, such as close transportation, ground floor, top floor, etc., because I feel a location that is convenient is more important than the view. The only time I pay to book a "view" is if I'm there for something special, like July 4th, where a big part of the reason for being there is to view something special from the hotel. I don't think my July 4th stay would have been as special with a garden view as it was with a TPV room. But if I were booking a stay for say, next week, budget and location would trump view for sure.

At Disney, the only time I might care about view is if I was staying deluxe and had a balcony (but I'm too cheap to stay pay deluxe prices- lol). I see no need to pay for a view at a moderate or value since there are no balconies. On beach vacations I like and will pay for an ocean front balcony and view.

We usually stay at a mod, so view isn't important. The one time we stayed at a deluxe, we were at Poly in Tahiti and we had a grass area/walkway with the monorail in the distance just off our patio. Not the view that many would have hoped for but it turned out to be quiet and private, so it was relaxing when we sat outside. Seems like most would naturally want the MK view, water view, etc. but I think I'd prefer a woods view or something similar where applicable so it's quiet and peaceful.

For Disney, no. Location is more important. If I get an upgraded view, great! But I'm not paying for it.

Now if I'm going to Mexico or someplace tropical, totally different story.

For those of you whom view is not important to you, I certainly understand your reasoning. But for me, view is important and is something I will pay extra for. I am not a park commando where I have to hit the park at 8:00 am and not come back to the resort until 1:00 am.

For me not looking down at a loading dock or shipping area is important. I also don't want to look out and see someone's beat up Chevy outside my window, nor do I want to see Disney's ME busses below me either. I spend some time at the resort for a break and enjoy a cold tall glass of ice tea or soda on the balcony looking out over one of the lakes. I guess if all I was going to do is put my head on the pillow at night then I would feel different. But for me the resort is more than a rented bed.:)

If I'm at a deluxe, I care about the view. I also strongly prefer a full balcony as opposed to a juliet balcony (BC) or patio. Our kids are young so we take breaks and some nights we're in early so it's nice for DH and I to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view.

I've never requested a particular building or view. I honestly never look out the window, I'm so busy with either getting the kids ready to head to the parks, or busy getting everyone showered and to bed at night.

But, I can say, that when DH and eventually make it to WDW minus the kids (probably 20 years from now :rotfl:), I will want a room with a view - since we plan to stay deluxe and since I will have more time to relax at the resort. :)

Yes - it's not as though I don't enjoy the nice views. I just don't care enough about them to pay extra for it. I'd rather spend my budget on other things when I'm there. We stayed at BCR last time and everyone warned us about not all of the rooms having full balconies. Luckily we got a nice, big balcony right over the quiet pool. We went out there our first day to see the view and I'm pretty sure we never even opened the balcony door again during the whole trip. We were in the CL lounge or swimming or in the parks.

I only care about the view, if it gets me a better location (for my purposes) at the resort.

For example, pool view at the AKL gets you closer to the lobby, so I'd pay for that, but I wouldn't pay extra for savannah view, since there are so many other places to see the animals.

I'm more concerned about location.

I agree, a view isn't that important to me. All we do is sleep in our room anyway. We never spend much time In our room at all. I do however request a building when I book CBR, bc it is so big I always like to be closer to OPR but I don't pay for a preferred room.

I care about view at AK where I want the Savannah and BLT where I would live to watch wished from my balcony. Nowhere else.

I don't care either...we have a standard view at AKV. As long as it's not the roof like you have said it doesn't matter to me! BUT if I'm on a vacation on the ocean I will always have a ocean front room;)

If we have a balcony, then yes, the view matters. We spend a lot of time sitting out there. If staying at a moderate, I think it is silly to pay for a view. You have a view of the hotel corridor or walkway regardless of what is behind it!

We just had a stay ay BC in a standard view CL room. It wasn't bad at all. If you looked down you saw a tiny bit of a roof but otherwise you looked out and saw trees and the resort itself which is very pretty.

When we booked our room we wanted to use the AP discount and the only rooms they had were Lagoon View and then CL rooms. The price between Lagoon View and CL was so close we just went for CL. I couldn't see paying that much extra just for a view. I can go outside and see it if I really want.

I always request upper floor and when it's available prefer garden views. I like to not have a noisy road or noisy parking lot near my room at Disney.

We stayed at WL in a Woods View, bunk bed room years ago and I hated it. Turned out our room was near the access road for the garbage trucks, delivery trucks ect. Whenever we were in the room, I kept hearing the beeping from those backing up starting at 7am.
It was awful. And that was a room that supposedly had a view! We could see some of the MK fireworks but the balcony was full of spiders so I wasn't about to use it.
