Anyone else not like Illuminations?

I LOVE Illuminations! I admit I liked the older one better (Reflection on Earth)(longer, fountains, more fireworks, etc.) but the current version is just fine. I LOVE the globe, it is so fascinating to see the images portraying their story - no where is there anything like it that I know of! I also like Wishes & Fantasmic, but each are different and unique, and that is what makes them special. Wouldn't be so special if only the music, colors, and fireworks changed!

I can take it or leave it. I really liked the old one, though. Wish they would change the current show. Maybe for EPCOT's 25th anniversary they will update it.

Lives4Disney :)

I remember when IllumiNations 25 was running, everyone was saying how it was so old and ordinary and nothing special and it was time for a new show but now everyone wants it back! I really like the IllumiNations from the 80s, when Epcot first opened.

Where is the best spot to view Illuminations?

Our dream spot is an outside table at the Rose & Crown--been lucky enough to have been there for two different Illuminations.

I love how it starts with the host blowing out all the flames, that is just awesome. And even the first few fireworks are cool, but then it starts playing that video on the globe in the water that I can barely make out what it is and they have those cheesy little fountains around it. I just find it all very unimpressive and BORING. Am I alone in this? :confused3

Most.

Boring.

Show.

EVAR.

Bring back Classic Illuminations! PLEEEEEASE!!!!!

most people don't like illunations ROE becasue they don't get the story or visuals.

esentialy you are watching the history of evolution starting with the big bang, to the formation of the planet earth, to the possible future. Watch it next time with that in mind and you may enjoy it a lot more.

I don't like that portion because I don't believe in evolution, I believe in creation! :)

We enjoy the music and the fireworks but don't like the globe, gee I wonder why! :teeth:

All the times we have gone and I have yet to sit by the lake and watch the show. I had no idea there even was a globe. We have been staying at the BCV for the past 2 years and will be again this Feb so we normally watch the display from the room. So we hear the music and see the fireworks, but the rest is trees trees trees.

Setting up camp to get a good spot along the lakes edge has never been that appealing to our family.

I love illuminations. :thumbsup2

The music is great and so is the beginning and ending. Sure the globe is kinda cheesy and hard to see, but the music keeps it going.

I really don't see what the big draw is for Fantasmic. Just saw it for the 2nd time last week and really, besides the dragon, what is so great about it? So they project cartoons on a mist of water.... and have a corny play to go along with it.

Like someone else said, they have lots to choose from and we all like different things, thats what makes it so great in WDW

Love the music but we always say "globe, globe, globe, globe....." It takes SO long to do the globe part:) The older versions of Illuminations were amazing!

I love the Illuminations but can anyone tell me if they still do the Tapestry of Nations parade also? We haven't been in the parks since 2001 and I loved that parade. Can anyone give me some good news or info for it? We will be going the 2nd week in December and although I am very excited to see the holiday decor and shows I also am hoping on catching some of my old favorites and that parade was high on my list.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry that parade's been gone for a few years! :sad2: It was my absolute favorite Disney parade. I miss it!

I'm glad that we are not the only ones who feel this way. We've seen Illuminations several times but we just don't like it. I think it is mostly because of how long you just stay there looking at the globe spin and spin and spin showing video and nothing else happens for at least 5 minutes. I rather see a slightly shorter show than to be subjected to that.

We sometimes see Wishes and Fantasmic and we love both, but we'll only watch Illuminations if we have a guest visiting who hasn't seen it and would like to do so.

Agreed. When I saw Fantasmic, I was like, "This is what everyone was waiting in those lines for?" Thank God I bought the dinner pkg. I didn't hate it (can't really hate anything in WDW, can ya?), but I was really bored.

Illuminations OTOH, chokes me up every single time. As for the globe, the best I ever saw it look was when I saw its reflection in my daughter's eyes.

*sniffle*

Illuminations has never "done" it for me.

When I was a kid most of my memories are of trying to see the darn thing, but it's so hard to find a spot that isn't completely obstructed.

Now, I just don't get very impressed by it. The fireworks are nice, the music is nice...but nothing I go out of my way to see. I usually walk out of the park as it is begining because I'd rather beat the crowds.

I think it's mostly because there is nothing terribly "Disney" about it for me. I know WDW is more than the characters, but it just seems odd that there is nothing of that ilk in Illuminations at all. I'm sure that's one of the very reasons some people enjoy it, though.

I make sure to see Wishes! and Fantasmic! as many times as possible per trip, but Illuminations is pretty low on my list.

I didn't like the 2000 version much, but I love the current one! I do think the globe part is a little long- I know that it's crazy high technology, but after about a minute, it gets a bit boring. LOVE the rest, though! Especially when they blow the torches out at the beginning.

Me too! I wonder why they went to an evolution theme instead of a celebrate the nations theme?

If you look closely at the globe it eventually shows many different people and cultures.

This current IllumiNations IS the "2000 version."
