We were just underwhelmed by the whole property. We even did not like the pool expect for the slide. (The sand bottom was just to much work when chasing a 3 year old around it) I dunno if we were expecting more or if I was just expecting it to be different than it was anyone else feel this way after staying there or are we just weird?

Nah, you're weird. ;)

I like BCV for the nearness to Epcot. I'm not a fan of SAB, but my husband and son liked it many years ago (we used to hop there to swim before BCV were built). I prefer the Dunes Cove pool at BCV. But SAB is only a small part of the BC/BCV complex. I like the close in parking. I like that it is quiet. I like that it is small. I like the shorter corridors (than AKV and BWV).

And, in my opinion, SAB isn't really for kids younger than eight or nine. Unless all you have is one or two little ones and they are happy on the YC side of the pool where the little ones can play without worrying if they are going to drown.

I do think it is overhyped but for us it is location location location. The sand gets old as it gets everywhere, SAB design is a maze and who thought it was a good idea to put the slide outside the pool area to have kids leave and cross a fairly busy path where parents lose sight of their kids.

With that said it is probably our favorite resort, but if I could pick up SSR and put it next to EPCOT I would be thrilled. As a standalone resort SSR is our favorite, just love that place.

OP you are not weird and you are not alone! We feel the same way about BCV.

When we want to be close to Epcot, we prefer BWV.

We own there & my DH is not a fan. He does not like the slide set up & thinks pool is too spread out. He likes BWV. My DS & I like both.

Many of you have touched on some of my concerns about SAB! I have it booked for next summer, but we've only been when it's been too cold to swim. I don't like how the slide is removed from the complex, and the lazy river is something like 9 ft deep? right?

I'm nervous that it will be a disaster but it's time to try it. It's actually one of our home resorts! I LOVE BLT's pool. It's manageable when I'm on my own (DH likes to nap ;)) with my three kids!

Every resort has pros and cons. BCV (and the Y & BC resorts) just aren't my personal cup of tea. But I do enjoy going to Beaches and Cream when traveling with a group, especially if there are kids.

I really like the neighborhood condo styling of OKW.

nope, not just you.
BCV is a beautiful resort, and has the best greeters (was art, now teena:thumbsup2). however, SAB is usually a zoo - actual swimming is difficult like this :crowded:, and we don't find lounge chair stalking a fun sport :confused3). the noise levels are usually significantly higher and constant in the BC/BCV pools, lobby, hallways, etc than at any other DVC (or deluxe or moderate) resort.
views are important to us but lacking there, and we are not fans of close-up parking (seeing/smelling cars). while the BCV is not our least favorite of all the DVC resorts (being close to EPCOT & the BW is great), it is of the 3 we own (BWV, SSR, & BCV).
like said, BCV is a really beautiful resort, with a lot to offer & is well suited for many....it is just not what we prefer on vacation :)

I agree SAB is not all that and a big of chips, and I also dislike BCV for its underwhelming room views. Definitely prefer BWV - long hallways, clown pool and all!

Wow, BCV bashing....My family liked Beach Club and loved SAB. But that being said we all prefer our home resort BWV. The Keiser Coaster pool is just fine!

While most of us like it along with liking other DVC resorts, each for different reasons, we actually have 1 granddaugther that does not like the sand pool. Even as a toddler she hated her feet touching the sand at this pool. Then she got a little use to it, but kept losing her balance and falling and it left a bad experience for her. We are hoping to try it again next spring and she was not happy to hear that. She's 6 now and can swim, so we are hoping she gets over her dislike for SAB. She likes the quiet/villa pool just fine, she just doesn't like the "sand pool" (she calls it).

We have been trying out all of the DVC resorts to see if we like them. And as we progressed through all of the DVC resorts at WDW except for BCVs we keep making excuses not to book at BCV.

1. We want a view. We are balcony folks and no view is no fun.

2. We like peace and quiet.

3. Epcot is a one time per trip park for us. However at an Epcot resort the dining at Epcot becomes more important.

We never get beyond #1 when we get ready to make our next DVC reservation. We have stayed at BC with cash stay, so we know it is not a quiet resort. Although I expect that BCV itself could be. We enjoyed SAB, but didn't love it because of the crowding. I kept thinking it could be a parents nightmare as it would be so easy to lose sight of your kids.

Beaches and Cream is the ONLY reason I can convince DH to stay there for the F&W Festival. If he had his way, like you, he's always be choosing OKW. But the fact that at BCV we can get to B&C without getting wet when it's raining out makes him accept it!

Not a big fan, either. We've stayed at all the WDW DVC resorts (except now GFV) and I'd say BCV is my least favorite. The only plus is has in my book is proximity to Epcot, but I'd much rather stay at BWV for that convenience. :thumbsup2

I do apologize for the noise at BCV; my kids are the ones you heard screaming in the hallways....:)
One nice feature that I have not seen mentioned is Cape May Cafe; our kids have always enjoyed the character breakfast buffet there.

While we love BCV; we want to try a different resort next year - I hear some folks mention the views from their balconies could be better; just wondering what is your take on the views at VWL ? We had friends staying at Wilderness Lodge one year, so we checked it out and if I'm not mistaken, I thought most of the DVC rooms were pretty close to the woods; is there much of a view, so to speak ?

Not a fan of BCV but not sure why, never having stayed there. In 2002 we could have bought in there for $5/pt cheaper, but we chose VWL for its location and character.

The few times I've been in the BCV lobby it has seemed very loud and crowded, and certainly most of the folks on the Disney buses in that area get on and off at BCV, so assume it has charm and attraction for many.

Perhaps because we live in New England we weren't thrilled about buying a home resort with New England theming.

My DH would say he dislikes BCV. A nice view is important to us and it doesn't really have much of a view. He said it was tacked on to the Beach Club as an after thought and it shows. He doesn't dislike the pool, but SAB isn't enough to ever make him want to stay there again. He does like the proximity to Epcot and the Boardwalk, but BWV is our home resort so we can just stay there.

I actually like the BC although I also prefer BWV. I enjoy the pool and I like the atmosphere of the hotel. We enjoy Cape May and I like decor of the lobby area.

WOW!!! i thouht this was the most popular, they are always at 100% capacity. I was lucky enough to get in there on a waitlist once and i loved it.
