Anyone else like to experiment with hair color?

Ok, I don't mean blue and purple.... :teeth:

I'm talking "regular" colors. I am always changing my hair color... lighter, darker, highlights, no highlights, etc. I just changed it from a mid-blond to a darker shade, it was called Dark Golden Blond. It looks a little red, not sure how much I like it... but hey, it's only hair!!

How about you, do you like to experiment, or are you afraid of change?

Not in the range that you do, but I seem to pick a different shade of brown every time, from ash to warm to golden to auburn. My next hair experiment is going to be a straightening product, "EasyStraight".

I never get the same color two times in a row but always in the blonde range of 7ish-9ish... lighter in the summer & more ash in the colder months... I've always wanted to go auburn but I always chicken out!

Yes I love to experiment with color. My hair is naturally brunette. Currently, I have highlights of copper, golden brown & a few blonde streaks thrown in. Love it.

I like to - but I cry nearly every time until I get used to it.

I am currently "Beer Bottle Brown" and it is the first color my DH has liked since the bleached blonde a few years back. :thumbsup2

When I was younger (I'm only 21 now, but my mother is a bit on the edge and has been letting me dye my hair since I was about 13/14) - my hair has been it's natural chestnut-with-streak-of-honey-on-left-side for about 5yrs now.

It's been
- black (naturally as a baby, dyed as a teen)
- blonde (naturally as a child, dyed as a teen)
- brown with chunky blonde highlights
- various shades of brown
- proper red (not ginger red)
- auburn
- purple

Ah, those 2/3yrs were wild.
I think, at the moment, I'm a bit afraid of change. And my natural hair colour just really suits me (well, why wouldn't it? :rotfl: )

This tickled me :rotfl2: especially the ' ' at the end of the statement.

Ok...I think I am going to have to jump into this. I have never dyed my hair even once. But the grays are getting more and more and I think its time.

So what do I do? Should I go to the salon? Is it easy to do myself? How often do you have to do touch ups?

Someone explain this to me please. :goodvibes

I have had a number of hair colors in the past. I always do it myself. But in honor of Mothers Day and our trip, my dh sent me to the salon today to have my hair done. I love it! It's a rich brown with champane chunky highlights... plus got it cut, chopped a good amount off. I'm loving it.

I always have mine done in a salon and highly recommend this if you're doing highlights. For all-over color, it's easy to do at home. The tricky part is choosing a color.

I have done it myself and have gone to salons. I've finally decided I can do it just as well, if not better myself. Now this isn't true for everyone though. I just striped the brown/red from my hair to go dark golden blond. I have to agree with Mercy that it has some red in it, not exactly what I was going for, but I like it. This was the first time I've striped the color out myself, I was worried I might have wound up with patches of hair missing, but it turned out fine. How often you need to touch it up depends on how fast your hair grows, but usually about six to eight weeks.

My mother still talks about how she was telling my cousin, who was visiting from another state how beautiul my hair was. This must be at least 12 years ago. Anyway, she had just finished saying it when I walked in with my hair a beautiful shade of plum :teeth: . I thought my mother was going to die after turning 12 shades of red lol.

I agree.

Also, I was going to add, maybe try some temporary dyes first to see what kind of shade works well on your hair (some colours/shades react to grey hair).
