I think I am a bit prone to that SAD thing anyway. But last winter was so awful, I was really pretty miserable by the time it finally left. And now I'm already worried that this one will be the same - or worse. I just read a forecast predicting the "T-Rex of Winters."

We've had mild weather today where I am, but the temperature is going to drop dramatically tomorrow and they predict snow by the weekend. I feel like I just can't face six months of cold and ice and snow and going to work in the dark and driving home in the dark. Bleh.

Yes! It has been gloomy and dreary here the last 10 days or so and I'm sick of it already.

Not a fan of winter at all. It's uncomfortable and depressing.

Please stop watching the "forecasts". All they do is exaggerate the extremes in order to get people to keep watching. Your sanity will thank you.

Yes, and I don't even live where it is really cold and snowy like some of the northern states. Last year winter seemed to last forever to me.

We had 14" of snow on November 2nd. Schools were closed on Nov. 3, and towns without power were also closed on Nov. 4. Many areas were without power until Nov.5th, some not getting power restored until the 6th. Some school districts have used up their allotted snow days and it's just barely November. Fortunately this week the temps have been in the upper 40s or warmer, so most of last Sunday's snow has melted, but if this is a forecast of what's to come, I'M MOVING. DH can come with me or not!

Yep. Our local meteorologist did his long range winter forecast yesterday. They're predicting a repeat of last winter, polar vortexes (vortices??) and all. And no, this meteorologist does not exaggerate or sensationalize his forecasts.

I don't like our winters at the best of times, and last year was particularly brutal. Thankfully we can escape for a few weeks of southern warmth. I'm thinking of adding an extra week.

Luckily here in NJ it has not been too cold yet- however, I know the brutal cold is inevitable and that too makes me sad! I like sunshine & warm weather. The winter months are very dreary!

In AZ.....still 80. Looking forward to winter weather. Here it is pretty nice.

That's easy to do if you're located 2 miles away from the castle! ;)

The holidays help me get through December (November isn't usually too bad.) But January and Febuary? Ugh...I really want to look into getting a sun lamp this year, maybe that would help. Pretty sure I have SAD as well, the lack of sun really gets to me!

The older I get, the more I do..:sad2:

I feel for everyone getting such extreme temps so early, and the snow, it just makes winter that much longer

We somehow missed it, but I know we will more than make up for it. We are above average in temps, and that in itself is scary.. I got my snow tires on today..

I am really dreading it and I don't even work anymore so I don't have to leave the house if I don't want to and I am still dreading it!

While that may be true, it was pretty accurate last year as far as--there's going to be lots of cold and lots of snow.

I follow a weather junkie on Facebook and he is happy when the forecast is these crazy snow systems. He doesn't get giddy about hype and doesn't hesitate to warn when it is all hype.

OP--the winter forecast about broke my heart. Fortunately, we were able to relocate to Florida--but even back in August, there was talk and I just didn't know how I would deal. And I was only in Northern, Virginia.

Here's hoping you have more mild winter days than the dreaded wintry ones.

Not really. I love the winter. Last year the whole Christmas season and beginning months of the year were sad because our dog became sick and then passed.

I'm hoping this Christmas season is a do over! :rotfl: We are in a beautiful new apartment, I threw out all the decorations last year, just too depressing (really, it was just an awful time with our little buddy).
Looking forward to buying new decorations!

I also bought new boots that I can't wait to wear. (always helps ;))

I'm sure I'll be sick of it by Feb so I'll just focus on some vacation planning! ;)

Now walking home from work here in Chicago while it's in the high 90's with a million percent humidity...ugh.

It has been mild here so far. Thank God. I am not at all excited for winter, I dread it. I am ok until January 1. January and February are just awful for me.

OP, I'm right there with you. We live in rural Va and the kids had 18 snow days last year!!! I'm especially bummed right now because the next week or 2 is the same set up as last year (early for very cold weather), but I think it's even earlier than last year.

I hate it. I'm not recovered from last winter. I bought a mood therapy lamp which I'm hoping helps.
