I'm packed, all the ressies are printed out, the groceries have been ordered and I'm in a funk.:confused3 We leave in 4 days. I've noticed before that once all the planning is done and I'm just waiting for the day to leave, I get into a bit of a funk. I've been waiting for our arrival day in Orlando to show up on the 10 day forecast but now don't even bother to check. I believe that it might have something to do with needing to start planning the trip AFTER this one?:surfweb:

I agree...planning is a good chunk of the fun when going to WDW. And, those of us who spend time on boards like this are generally WAY prepared when it comes to our time in WDW. The last few days prior to a trip, I'm usually getting ready more for the travelling than the time in WDW. Gathering snacks for the plane ride, printing off documents, organizing documents to take with us, getting $1 bills for tipping...etc.

It actually gives me a kind of peaceful feeling inside knowing that our WDW days are all taken care of...so once we GET THERE, I know I'll be able to relax.

So...my suggestion? Make sure you've got all the papers you'll need and organize them somehow. If you make tip envelopes for Mousekeeping, make sure they're done and even fill them before you go. Most importantly...feel good about the fact that you're prepared for what will surely be a magical time in WDW

I know the feeling, we are leaving in 3 days, and I have been packing, took everything out of the special Disney box that I have been storing things in for the trip, yesterday I did :laundy:, then ironed, went on:surfweb: and checked all the documentation again, cannot do boarding passes till 24hrs before, and now waiting for DH to get home from gym so I can pack his stuff.

Tomorrow, last minute things and go do the mani and pedi and get another book for pool. I am not exactly in a funk, I just want to get there.

Have a great trip and think of the magical memories you will have.:)

YOU BET I'M IN A "FUNK"! Down to 1 week; DD and family down to 4 days. My "funk" now is, I'm afraid "it's not going to happen". It's been a horrible year for us so far (death in the immediate family). We need to get away and desperately have some worry-free time and fun. ALL the plans are made; DGD's started packing today. Seems like everytime I relax and think everything is going to "work out" something happens. The "something happens" may have happened over the weekend when DD's family may have been exposed to the flu after entertaining a family from out of state. So now we wait ... and wait ... and wait. We sure do need Pixie Dust pixiedust:! Fellow Disboarders ... send it our way!!!:tink:

I'm so sorry about the death in your family. My mother died the day AFTER I made the reservations for this trip and, until you mentioned it, I never even thought that might be weighing me down a bit.

I'll send you super extra strength pixie dust with antimicrobial properties! Thank you all for the little lift. I do think it's the "there's nothing more to do" thing but I can't LEAVE yet! I have watched Fred form and they are saying he is going off into nowhere land. Yea!!! Now I'm trying to find someplace we can grab a bite when we get into Orlando. Our plane arrives between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm and it appears nothing at MCO will be open and Artist's Pallette at Saratoga Springs will be closed by the time we arrive. I'm hoping maybe Papa John's will deliver late? The McDonald's at DTD is open late, but I don't think we're going to be up for traipsing over there (did y'all hear it was robbed this morning????). Does anyone know if Starbucks at the MCO main terminal is open 24/7? Hey, I gotta have SOMETHING to worry about!

...sorry about your Mom. It's really hard to face reality at times, isn't it? Thanks for the extra pixie dust too! The way I feel tonight (throat is getting sore!) we may need lots more!!!
You DO have a problem with food getting in that late. I'm assuming you'll be using ME so stops on the way aren't an option? You could try the snack bar at SS; possibly a sandwich or something to last until an early morning breakfast. Not sure about Starbucks either - try calling information at MCO and check or possibly the Starbucks website ... maybe a spot to "Ask Us"???. I TOTALLY understand that "need". I'll be arriving at MCO around 11 am; leaving Houston at 7:30 am and I'm already planning on making Starbucks my first stop. Don't even care if I miss the ME bus ... long as I'm able to get a latte first! Enjoy your trip!:tink:

I went on the PaPaJohn's Pizza website ... they deliver to WDW and are open until 1:00 am!!! I've got the number programmed into my phone - 407 477 7777. I'll make THAT call even before checking in... oh wait, I did online check in:yay::yay::yay:. Just pick up the key and wait for food....

i am well versed in the "funk" you speak of. Im in it right now. It seems like we waited forever to book our flights and that same night we decided to book everything! Car, Hotel, Dinning, Tickets and flights. I have most of our envelopes started and put in my LLbean travel doc. holder. Now I have to wait for ADRs and until then I am in limbo :( Still 3 months until our trip to go:surfweb: the Dis has kept me sane

Thanks OP and PPs-I thought I was the only one-lol! 12 days to go and feeling a bit "off" too:rolleyes:

I wouldn't say so much of a funk as a panic! Just hit me that in less than five days I leave for the World, but in the meantime I got a business trip thrown in so I'm off to Dallas Tuesday and back home the day before I leave for FL. Also DH got training this week, so I just saw him off for 10 days (he wasn't going with me anyway, but leaves me frantically setting up childcare - because I am also leaving the kids behind!). I hope I can relax once I get there...

I am having bouts.
I have everything made. Everything packed. Everything planned and four days left.
i have three work shifts and everybody playfully goes by saying "how many more sleeps". I am just trying to keep my mind off. Sadly sometimes my mind will even wander to the end of the trip anticipating that dreadful leaving.

Yes i got like this also the day before we left. I guess from spending so many months for hours & hours day after day playing the dining reservation game (i actually got very very good at this) and from running around constantly i burned myself out on that last day. By 8:00 i was ready for bed and wasnt excited (which was a good thing because it allowed me to sleep for our early departure of 3:00 a.m.). On departure day though it does come back to you and you get very excited. I do get sad though in the middle of my trips because once it starts getting down to 3 days i get teary eyed. Aftr this trip my DH said we would probably go back in 3 years (i was happy with that at least he wanted to go back) but then last week i actually talked him into stayed next year if we stay in a mod.

I get in to a funk when it gets in thee 3-4 day range, because I can't do anything except wait for the 24 hours mark to check in for flights. Then the excitement keeps me up late. But for dats 4,3 and 2 I am like, this is not going to happen. Anyway, to get myself out of the funk this past trip (9/16-21) I kept sending messages to my parents, who were going down as well saying things like, T-minus X hours until Mickey and sending a picture text of a DIsney item from my house. (They would send stuff back to me, like the weather in Orlando that day). Maybe you can try that? At work I tried to keep my mind off of it because I was clock-watching.

I have also experienced the "going home blues" on my trip; the day before I leave is the worst. I have to travel on the "No so Magical Express", that's my name for the ride back to the airport.

Called it pre trip jitters, funk, or just plan crazy as my DH has become convinced I am.:confused3
I have been planning this trip since we canceled back in 07. My DH was injured at work so we had to cancel 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave. Then the years that followed were long and painful and money was extremly tight.
Now we booked back in May for this trip. I have our ADR's, I have our tickets, hotel and was just waiting for airfare to drop a bit.
Then my parents decided to come along which great but now before everything I do I have to check with them first and they are not easy to please.
I am booking airfare tonight regardless of the price but we will be leaving from a differet airport then we were planning as the fares are just much better so I am nervous about that as the airport is much bigger then the last time we flew with all the kids.
I have relative watching my dogs but not staying at my house just stopping in so I am worried about that.
Our flight leaves supre early so I still need to figure out how we are getting to the airport so I guess I have reason to panic.
I can't wait to just get there.
I know once I am I will be fine but man is the leading up to it tuff!:scared1:

I get this way when we go under 1 week, we've got 14 days 18 hrs. 17 mins. 45 secs. as of the time this is written. It's sort of a 'buyer's remorse' type of thing, we usually leave mid-week and the weekend before I get the thought, 'Well, I guess I gotta start getting ready for this thing'. That's when we do the final packing, checking paperwork, confirming flights, parking, Tiffany etc. Once that's done and we're leaving the day after tomorrow, we're stoked.

One other thing I've noticed over the years, I have a standard, repeating 'WDW Dream' about this time. In it, I'm at Disney, we've got only one or two days left, we haven't done what we wanted to do, maybe we haven't been to the parks at all, and thankfully, I wake up then. Had that two weeks ago so we must be getting close.

I'm feeling the funk too! I'm glad the time is almost here but my travel companion isn't as excited so it's kinda ruining it for me.I just hope when she gets there it will energize her or oh boy it's gonna be bad/sad. I've already warned her I plan on doing 12 hours a day at variouspRatos and resorts and if she can't handle it I won't mind if she goes back to the hotel without me .. Is that bad??? I'm already in planning mode for next year as well... Wrenches are already being thrown in it grrrrrrr

I find that I enjoy my "spur of the moment" trips much more than the planned ones. If I think too much about it, I prematurely start to regret the end of it.

Why can't I just live in the moment and enjoy the power of now? I'm working on it, folks, I'm working on it. :thumbsup2

I am in a bit of a funk, and I need to snap out of it because I am not done with everything and we leave Friday. I am not overwhelmed, I am just super low energy. Not good.

When it gets to be a few days before, I start thinking, 'well, this time next week it'll almost be over" or "won't be long and this trip will just be a memory". Once I'm there, I'm totally in the moment, and loving it, it's just those few days before that I get the funk.
