Anyone else here crazy for ROMPERS?

I disagree. I think a 40 year old woman that works out regularly and lives in south florida should be able to wear shorts that reach her mid thighs, and should be able to wear a strapless top.

I think anyone should be able to wear what ever they want, the only one you should try to please is yourself, I've always been a big believer in it. Sorry to the OP, I didn't know how old you were when I made my post, and I wasn't talking about you specifically, I was talking more about myself and the fashion I'm comfortable wearing.

Knock yourself out, It sounds like you're in great shape and I'm sure you look great :)

That's ok. Believe me, I understand that at my age I cannot wear just anything. To me, a romper is like a pair of jeans. I wear jeans that are low (under my belly button) but not those super low jeans like the teen agers wear. I wear shorts all the time, but of course not the teeny ones like college girls. I see rompers that are VERY young looking and more appropriate for someone in their 20s. But I see blousy, dressy ones, too, and those are the ones I gravitate towards.

I don't like rompers. My gym uniform in school was a romper and I HATED IT. I also dislike having to get fully undressed to go to the bathroom.

I do think they are a passing trend for the younger crowd (early 20s) but definitely not for me and my age group!

mine are strapless...very easy access for the bathroom, just yank it down!

just promise that you will not wear track suits until you hit 70 :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

I don't own one but I have noticed the one Kardashian girl wearing them a lot and she looks adorable in them!

LOL, funny, a few years ago, I was addicted the velour, drawstring pants with a tank top. Matching jacket if it was cool out. DH said that I should stop wearing that, looked too "suburban mom".

I think they are very cute and have seen a few women my age wearing them, but I'm simply to pudgy to get away with this look. Not to mention, the pottying issue.
My daughter owns 3 and loves them.

These are cute, but the rule of thumb I've learned is "if you wore it when it WAS in style or when you were a child you shouldn't wear it the second time around when it comes BACK in style". hee hee I try to stick to it as much as possible.

That's a good point! :lmao:

I do not have the body shape to get away with wearing those, and kudos to those few that do.

Rompers.......jumpsuits.......what's next, short leg overalls?

If you ladies are going to bring back a style, how about neon/metallic thong leotards at the gym?:woohoo:

For all the women who are afraid to show your arms and legs, I highly suggest weight training. I am in wayyy better shape than when I was in high school and college. I have muscle tone in my arms, and my legs have definition. It has done wonders for my confidence and self esteem. I have made peace with the fact I will NEVER have a six pack, though!

So, all the "ageists" out there...I am guessing you do not wear a bikini to the beach/pool? Curious. Again, not one of my friends (moms from school) wear a one piece. We are not wearing string bikinis, but everyone wears a bikini.

I think SoFla is very trendy, and also people are very body conscious down here. Wondering if this is regional?

no, no bikini here, but in my early 20's I got cancer and the resulting surgeries have left abdominal scar tissue that makes a bikini not the best choice for me. I don't have a problem with older women (or younger women, or pregnant women, or overweight woman, or whatever) wearing a bikini - I'm just not comfortable wearing one myself.
Actually I spend very little time focusing on what other people wear, and I base my own personal fashion sense on whatever doesn't make me itch - so take any comments from me with a grain of salt :)

I guess I fall under these categories

Ageist: no

Bikini: after 3 kids and 2 c-sections....no just no:lmao:

Is this regional: possibly lol. Up here in Alberta we encourage healthy living but the need to be bikini ready is not really up there on our list of priorities due to our geographical location:goodvibes

Rompers: At 44 I am really not intersted in wearing the same clothes as my 14year old. She has one and looks great in it:thumbsup2

I think it would be nice for the beach as a coverup though. OP if you like them then who cares what this flabby, stretchmarked, non ageist thinks. If it makes you happy then wear them:goodvibes

The very last time I wore a romper, I was 13, it was terry-cloth and strapless. A neighborhood toddler gave it a pull and flashed me to the whole neighborhood. :scared1:

Never, never again.

Geez, I was in such a happy mood when I started this thread!:sad2: I thought maybe no one would post, never thought I would be ridiculed, but I should have known better, I suppose...I have been on these boards long enough.

I started the jumpsuit thread - don't sweat it!;):rotfl: I like the rompers too, especially the ones I saw at Macy's. Some of them are very flattering and fun! :)

Now here's an issue with older boys being brought into the ladies room. They would certainly get an eyeful peeking through the cracks of the stalls.

I don't know... I think they're really cute on younger girls, but for me, I couldn't do it. I'm in my early 30's and in fantastic shape (if I do say so myself) and I have no problem wearing a bikini to the pool, or halter tops, strapless dresses, but something about the strapless top being attached to the shorts makes me say no for myself. But if you like them, OP, wear them with your head held high! I like a girl with flair!

Do you really have to get naked to go to the bathroom in them? or do they have snaps like my toddlers rompers have? It just seems so impractical for me to get naked to pee.

I am doing weight training at the gym. I had a big set back early this year with the back surgery so the hot "gym bod" I planned on having by this time of year never materialized and now I am restricted to what I can do at the gym (hi reps, low weights), and just got clearance for the nautilus weights today. yay!

I have a feeling by the time I am toned and smoking enough to wear the romper, they will be out of style.

BTW...do they cause wedgie problems or...you know...the OTHER problem?
