Anyone else having problems with certain threads?

Don't know why this keeps happening. But I have noticed that certain threads (topic doesn't matter in this case) that I click on seem to get hung up. Meaning that the full thread does not fully load up and locks up my my browser (both at home and at work). Anyone else having this problem?

Sorry I am not having that problem. I am having the white page with only a > on it. But a back button and retry always works. The problem I am having is occuring less often.

Unfortunately, I don't have that option. The browser (IE) literally locks up and the only way to get out is either press the "X" botton at the top or the old Ctrl Alt Del and end task.

I don't think it's IE. DH upgraded IE to the most recent version for me (he uses Firefox). At work, we are still using IE 6.0.

This is driving me nuts. I was on one thread last week that I was able to post on once. After that, it kept locking up and I couldn't access it. Now there is another thread I would like to read the posts on and it, too, locks up and only gives me the first three posts :furious:

I'm having the same problem. In some cases, it's these stupid Google ads that are locking me up.

Another thing I find annoying is - I was going to do a search, but the toss the bean bag covered the space to write in and all it would allow me to do was toss a bean bag. Search is lame enough without making me toss bean bags.

I am having this problem with IE and Netscape. I have not tried Firefox.

YES! This is the conclusion I've come to on the threads I can't see all of the posts on. The bottom always says that ______________ (whatever the stupid Google ad is) is loading -- but it never does.

VERY FRUSTRATING!

Here's an example of one from the other day that locks up my browser because of the STUPID GOOGLE AD: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=15961261#post15961261

Wow! I didn't know others were having the same problem. I have the Google pop-up blocker on so I don't have problems with ads coming up.

I was finally able to access the thread I wanted to read and post in it. I can understand threads having a long time to load when there are a lot of pages to it, but the thread I was trying to read was only 3 pages long.

Good to know in one way that it's not just me.

Arggghhhh FUBAR! I just tried replying to your post when it got locked up! :rotfl: I clicked on the link and you're right it locks up. But that thread also has a lot of pages to it. So, I'm guesing there is more to load.

I have had no trouble with lock-ups or slow-loading threads since we went to a T1 line.

I am having the < problem occasionally, though.

Are you actually locked up, or is the page simply not loading? I'm getting A LOT of the latter. Only some threads, some of the time. I'm able to open other threads (in other tabs) no problem, and eventually the thread-in-question loads, and then there is no problem reloading that thread.

I've been having this problem! I thought it was just my lap top becuase my work is so good at putting up blockers and firewalls for everything I do.

In my case, it completely locks up IE so that it's non-responsive. I can't back out of the thread or go to any other site. All I can do is shut down the browser and reopen it.

The thread gets stuck on loading. It will stop when I click on the stop button. However, when I press the back button or try going to a different web site, I can't. Even if I don't click on the stop button but just click on the back button, I get stuck. Sometimes I'll get the message that says "program not responding". It's frustrating.

A SOLUTION!!!!

I posted our question on the Technical Support Board and got this answer from Dan Murphy:

Switch to the Swan Dolphin skin, it eliminates the generic banner ads which trash a lot of screens.

I tried it and IT WORKS!!!! HOORAY!

Interesting. I was going to say that our issues weren't related, but perhaps they are. I have Adblock enabled on Firefox, so perhaps what I'm experiencing is the problems in just another way -- I'm not locking up because Adblock is suppressing that effect.
