Anyone else have this reaction to reallocation of points?

When we first looked at DVC we were excited about lower weekday points. My husband works m-f and we drive 23 hours. We arrive Sunday and have to leave on Friday. Had we bought in a few years ago I would be very upset at the point changes. We are waiting on a resale now. All the point shuffling has been a little frustrating trying to figure out how many points we will ultimately need.

Nope, not us. We cannot do a 1 BR for 2-5 night visits any more. And my husband refuses to stay in a studio.

I hoped this discussion was over. Why oh why did I click and answer this thread???;)

We are new to BLT. We usually go the last week in April every year. With the reallocation they moved our usually week to another season that is wayyyy more than before. So now we have to change are April trips to May. Not That big of a deal... but not when we want to go. Boo Hoo Me. LOL.

I like the changes though it doesn't really affect us. We bought enough for a 1br any season and a 2br in value.

I like the idea of lots of long weekend trips.

Doesn't affect us either. We go for one week each year. Same points either way.:thumbsup2

I agree that it didn't make a huge difference for our WDW trips. Where it did make a difference was with our HH points. We bought a 50pt contract with the goal of going once every 3 years in a 1bd during the summer. We are now 5pts short of being able to do this. The weekends are still significantly more there, but we may end up adding on points so we may stay longer than 5 nights every 3 years anyway. We may just wait a couple of years though to see if any more reallocations will take place.

The last week of April is Easter Week in 2011. That would have been moved to Premier Season with or without the reallocation. It changes every year.

We have always gone for long weekends, especially during F&W and F&G, so those visits are easier to take. It's our VB points that need to be stretched more, the BC's points were so very high on weekends that as those are lowered, the weekday points are getting quite high. What we've done is used the VB points exclusively for the BC and were successful in adding on the inn rooms with other points.

My typical trip since I purchased DVC is Sunday through Friday. Gives me a weekend day to pack and finish last minute stuff and then 2 days before going back to work;) I purchased the amount of points I could afford and have made them work. I will eventually purchase more, but later not sooner. For now, I will fore go a long trip in 2011 as I have used half of my 2011 points for trips in 2010 and will need the other half in 2012..

The reallocation has allowed us to take more long weekend type trips because DH wants to conserve vacation time. We were doing the 5 night Sun-Fri trips until now, and if we do another longer trip, we'll include a weekend, too, or maybe two! I kind of like reallocation!

I think the only reason that week was moved in 2011 was due to the timing of Easter. My understanding is the weeks around Easter will always be premier. So, you may find that your last week of April won't always be as high as it will be for 2011.

We did buy in with the intent of doing 3 Sunday-Thursday stays - one in a cheaper points resort. That did not last long! We added on within a year and our vacations have been morphing to include multiple short seasonal trips.

I HATED last year's reallocation because it took away the "bargain" nights without significantly modifying weekend points. This last reallocation is much better and evens things out a bit more - weekends no longer feel like a huge splurge of points. :goodvibes

We include both weekends to minimize time taking kids out of school,so I also like the lower weekend points:thumbsup2
