Anyone else have this experience on eBay?

I just sold my Sony a200 kit bundled on eBay and the buyer did not pay so I had to relist it. The second auction ended last night and I still have not received payment so I'm starting to get that sinking feeling again. I've read up on this and apparently it's pretty common. I'm getting pretty sick of eBay's policies. Is there a better place for me to sell my equipment? I've never tried Fred & Miranda, has anyone here sold there?

I've sold on FM before and it was a good experience. I also had a bad seller experience on eBay selling photo gear. The buyer bailed on me. I now sell my gear on a brand-specific camera forum that I frequent (Nikonians.org).

Craigslist is also an option, depending on where you live.

I've sold on Craigslist twice. Both were good experiences. You get a ton of people trying to lowball you ridiculous amounts but just stick to your guns and demand to meet in person. Never respond to any offer to pay over the asking amount or let the other person take care of shipping.

My business is an ebay store. I've been at it for 7 years, but will probably vacate Ebay for other locations soon.

Ever since they changed the policy so you can't leave negative for a buyer, the unpaid items have skyrocketed. Until they get several unpaid strikes, there is no down side to buying and not paying.

Unfortunately with a one of a kind item like yours, you are sort of held hostage until they commit to saying they are in or out. If you relist and the original buyer pays you, you're stuck. They can leave you negative whether they ever pay or not.

It's just not what it used to be.

Good luck! I hope they pay soon for you!

I was an ebay seller right up till 2 months after the feedback changes. Now I buy, but don't sell. I try to treat the sellers with the same respect I hoped to get.
I left ebay, and built a building just for Craigslist. I like it a LOT better! I make a lot more money there too. But you have to change your whole way of selling, and you have to change WHAT you are selling. My personal experience is the things that sold BEST on ebay do not sell at all on CL, and vice versa. JMHO. We're considering going full time Craigslist this spring.

I could go on a long rant against eBay here, but I won't. I would love an alternate, especially after eBay's recently announced changed fee structure (and they have the guile to call it "lowering" of fees...when it reality, they're raising fees by 5.5%) but for most items, Craigslist or Amazon don't pass muster (if you're selling photo gear, definitely try CL).

Gee Tom, you must not realize you can list with full search visibility for only 3 cents a month!!!!!

...... if you pay $300 a month for their top of the line store..........

They called the other day to "counsel" me on which store option to choose under the new "scheme". I told them to stop sending me emails announcing their new "lower" prices...... I told them it was insulting my intellilgence.......
