Anyone else have their Easter break switched next year?

Upstate NY here (Saratoga Springs) and our break has changed too. Spring break is last week of April (25-29) rather than around Easter.

Just curious, when spring break is not taken at Eastertime in your particular area, what time, if any, do Christian children have off from school in observance of the holiday? Would it be Good Friday only?

Our schedule for next year isn't out but now I'm very curious as to what is going to happen. We usually get the week before Easter off, and my friends and relatives upstate get the week after but I see someone has posted that it has changed for them and its the end of April.
I don't know if we will go that late because we don't get a winter break in February that alot of other districts do. I'm hoping next year we do, I would love to escape the winter here.

In Massachusetts it's always the third full week of April - so for 2016 it would be the week of April 18.

Since ours is based on Patriot's Day (MA holiday), it's usually not around Easter. Good Friday is the only day that's (usually) given off, though they tried to take that away about 5-10 years ago.

Yes - my daughter will have good Friday - and, of course, Easter is a Sunday ... So she's off anyway.... My school doesn't give time off for any Jewish holidays, though many places in NY do.

My son's Spring break this year is next week -- 3/30 to 4/6 (Easter Monday).

In 2016 it will be the week of 4/4 to 4/8 -- though we won't be going to Disney. :( But it IS my birthday that week (4/7) so we'll go SOMEWHERE. ;)

I haven't checked, but here in NYC we'll probably just have Good Friday off. Usually the spring break can be worked to cover both Easter and Passover, but they're too far apart next year to accommodate both with one break. Since Passover is multiple days, it takes priority.

In NJ each town created their own calendar. My town always has the week after Easter. We have state testing March and May, so between testing and break...not a lot of instruction those 3 months for some teachers.

We live on the Gulf Coast of FL. THis year my kids have off the good Friday through the week after Easter

Next year they have off March 14-18. And then they have off Good Friday (March 25) as well.

Good Friday is a scheduled weather make up day for us, so no snow days = 3 day weekend at Easter.

March 25 - April 3 for 2016. Don't even get me going on how our district picks dates for Spring Break. During the time my kids have been in this district (15 years), they have changed the process for determining Spring Break 4 times. I gave up and just wait for the calendar to be published now.

Of course, it never lines up with my son's college break, so entire family trips for Spring Break are now out. My DS20 went on Spring Break with his girlfriend this year, and the rest of us are going to WDW so my DD16's high school band can march in the parade at MK.

Actually, Eastertide, in western Christianity, is a 50 day season with Easter itself being an 8 day celebration. Of course, it would be impractical for Christian children to have that whole time off. But I just wanted to clarify that Easter isn't just celebrated for one day. Thank you for your reply, though.

In our district we don't even get a week. My girls have off Good Friday, Monday & Tuesday. That's their entire Spring Break. It's pretty pathetic.

It seems like the change might just be a NYS thing which is may be due to the NYS testing going on?
