Ma. just instituted a Do Not Call registry today. It only took about a minute to fill in my info. It doesn't take effect until April 1st. Anyone else have something like this in their state?

The State of New York has had an opt out program for some time now. Just register online. We did our home, cell, office phones. Works real good.

Pennsylvania has the no calls please and it started in Nov. It has been so nice and quiet here!

Colorado has had this since last July. It cuts down significantly on calls but doesn't eliminate them. Charities can still call and it is fuzzy as to what is defined as a charity. Also the no-call ban doesn't affect cell phones so the Colorado Legislature is going to change that since telemarketers call cell phones and they don't have to pay for the air time. The cell phone user has to.

Overall tho the No-call list has been wonderful!

Missouri started a no-call list in 2000 and it has really helped reduce the number of calls we get. :)

Last year I signed up here in Ct. It's been wonderful. The only ones that can call are non-profit organizations and companies that may already have your number (such as credit card companies offering other services they may have)

I just read about the new MA law in our local paper and signed up for it the other day. :)

Yes, California has had this law for a while now and I USE it. I almost NEVER get telemarketer calls now, it's wonderful. :)

This just started here a few months ago, we signed up right away but just as an FYI - there has been a noticable INCREASE in the calls recently. There was a story in the local paper that the do-not-call lists get purchased periodically, so when the first do-not-call list went out, it was not very long. I forget exactly how long until the telemarketers have to get an updated list (that we will be on) but the marketers know that they will have fewer people that they can call soon, so they are doing double duty right now.... can't WAIT for it to ease up!

I think I recently heard on the local news that Illinois will be adopting this in 2003. I sure hope so.

We have it in Indiana. It's great!

We are in Indiana as well, and it is great! We hardly ever get phone calls anymore, and the few that we are getting are the only ones we wanted in the first place... Our friends and family :)

NO MORE TELEMARKETERS!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We went on the Texas list last spring and the number of calls has dropped dramatically. You still get calls from companies you have buisness with ('you have local phone service with us, please try our long distance'), but most will put you on there don't call me list.

It took about 4 months as the list is published quarterly and the telemarketers get some time to update their databases.

It has been ayear, I think I'll check to see if it need renewed yearly.

Minnesota just started one too. I signed up last fall for both my current number and my new one.
