Anyone Else Have an Issue with Loud Drumming at Poly?

We just checked into the Poly this morning and were assigned to the Fiji building. Our kids were really tired this evening so we decided to come back to our room at about 6:30pm. Shortly after that we started hearing really loud drumming, yelling and cheering. It is now almost 10pm and it is still going on. It is really annoyingly loud and as much as I do not want to have to repack my suitcases and switch rooms, I'm not sure I want to listen to 3 hours of drumming every single night. Has anyone else had an issue with this? We have stayed at Poly before but always on the other side of the resort.

If one of the grownups in the room is able to break away, I would suggest walking over to the front desk and asking what the drumming and other noise was all about. Calling will do no good- when you punch the front desk button on your room phone you get a call center thousands of miles away.

If the front desk manager can't assure you that the noise will not recur (perhaps it was something special going on tonight), then you could ask to be moved to another room.

Thanks for the heads up. That's really irritating that the Front Desk button isn't actually the Front Desk...lol. I will definitely check at the actual front desk tomorrow morning.

Is it from Spirit of Aloha?

Probably, if you are on that side of the property you will hear the drumming from the show. It's the main reason we won't stay on that side. Perhaps the op can tell us what building they are in.

Nope, it's not special, it's the Spirit of Aloha show and I'm guessing the OP is in Aotearoa or Fiji buildings. Every night the show is on you get the show noise over there. Drove us crazy as well and they moved us to Tahiti.

We have stayed at the Poly twice and find the drumming grates on us after a while. You are not the only one.

That must be it!! We are in Fiji. I really wish it had been a special party instead because I just got all of our suitcases unpacked and I really don't feel like doing that again! I guess I have to weigh if dealing with the noise is worth the hassle of moving everything.

I feel your pain. We love the Poly, especially the Tokelau building. When we arrived in 2009, Tokelau wasn't available, so we went to Fiji for one night. I also didn't really want to move, but I knew right away we would. Between no balcony or patio and the drumming/crowd noises....Fiji just isn't for us. If you do decide to move, I highly suggest Tokelau. Centrally located yet very quiet.

I am wondering if you are on the Luau Cove side of Fiji or the Marina side? I honestly was planning on requesting Fiji as I think the GV room views are some of the best I have seen. Is the drumming from the Spirit of Aloha show really that loud with the doors shut? I did check and the show is only Tues - Sat. I sorta think it would add to the atmosphere :confused3
When we stayed at BWI water view I found the sounds from the entertainment in the evenings quite enjoyable.

The noise that bothered us at the Polynesian was the noise from the Petty Racetrack.

I suggest the best way to deal with it is to wear yourselves out so completely during your park days that no amount of drumming could possibly bother you!
