To those who think Crocs are "Regional"...a thought.
I live in Colorado which is where Crocs were invented and are still currently made. I've owned mine for over 4 yrs, bought them the second I put them on. I have amassed over 7 pair and wear them year round and I do wear them with socks...GASP!
I used to be the ONLY PERSON around to wear them, and believe me, I got the looks. Didn't bother me, and still doesn't, my feet feel great!
Over the years I've seen them slowly gain momentum until the last 2 years when they just took off!
I am guessing that if you don't see them in your area, you will soon. They are a modern marvel in the footware industry and are only going to get bigger. If you don't like them, don't buy them, but from what I've seen 1st hand, there are a lot of Croc lovers out there, and the fan base grows daily.
