I am leaving for WDW next week with a friend of mine. This will be my first girls only trip since my Son was born 7 years ago. I am a bit apprehensive about being so far away from my DH and kids during this time. I am not really worried about flying or about being at WDW during this time, it is just being away from my family during this time that is bothering me. We sent to WDW 2 weeks after 9/11 last year and I was not as worried because I was with my family. So, I still plan on going, but I understand your concerns and I am with you on them.

By the way, when were at WDW after 9/11 it was a no-fly zone at the time, this made me feel a bit safer. I never realized it was lifted and when I went down in May there was a plane flying by and I kind of paniced.

This is not the 1st time that WDW and DL have been included in the no fly zone... they were after 9/11. I am glad they are, and it makes me feel a bit safer. No, the parks may not be historic landmarks, but they are places that many people gather, and it is better to be safe than sorry.

Good for our government for providing us with that extra protection. Don't think of it as something to make you worry more.... it is there to make you worry less, and relax for a while and have a good time. No sense in borrowing trouble where there likely is none. I hope that those going to WDW will be able to put aside MSNBC and CNN and enjoy some quality time with their loved ones while on vacation in the coming weeks.

Personally, I wish they would put a no fly zone around our area... we live within 30 minutes of the largest navel base on the East Coast, and 45 minutes from a nuclear plant! I will feel much better in WDW!!!!

We will be leaving Sat from Birmingham. We can't wait. I agree with what everyone has said. My husband and I went without our kids the first week in Jan. I highly recoment it. Don't let your mother's guilt trip work. My kids worked really hard on us. We had a great time. Hope to see you there and have fun.
