A part of me thinks we are CRAZY, but the other part LOVES that we are doing this.

DH and I are taking our twin DDs to WDW for 2 days in December! Yes, 2 days! We are leaving Indiana on Friday night after DH gets home from work for the 18 hour drive.

Arriving in Florida on Saturday night. Spending Sunday going to DTD, checking into the Pop Century Resort, and attending Cinderella's Dinner at the GF.

On Monday, we are going to MK for the whole day (staying for Wishes that night).

Then on Tuesday we are going to AK, and we the parade is over we are heading north to get in part of the drive home.

Then we drive all day on Christmas Eve, getting home before the clock strikes midnight so we can open our presents!

Anyone else ever do something as silly as this? We haven't told anyone (except you guys) because we know we will get the 'look'--you know, the 'Are You Crazy?' look?

Sounds great to me!! - but I'm a little  myself - was just plotting out a quick Dec trip myself for next year - 3 days just to see the decorations, catch MVMCP and CP - haven't been in Dec for years - let us know how it goes!

Glad to hear we are not the only  ones around!:sunny:

Next year our trip won't sound quite so crazy. We have a 4 day Disney Cruise booked form Dec. 19-23, and then we are going to WDW for a couple of days after the cruise (always wanted to see the ship when it is decorated for the holidays).

This year's trip is totally a last minute thing, and purely  crazy! I sure hope there is nice weather while we are there!

Have fun planning your trip for next year, bjakmom. I am finding that the holidays bring a whole new slant on planning for WDW. The decorations and the special events are the main things we want to see this time. Can't wait!

Nope, you're sure not alone!! I never thought for a minute that I would be booking a trip to WDW with less than 30 to go!!! But, that's what I did a week ago!! We've never been during the holidays and dh said 'go for it'. We were just there in August. We'll be there for 4 nights/5 days. I was feeling bad that it was for such a short time until I realized that many people have that time frame for their main visit!!! Happy Holidays all!!!

We did a spur of the moment roadtrip to WDW in Dec 2001. Only could stay 3 days, but I'm so glad we did it.

I did, however, come to the realization that short hops are much easier when I fly - so this Jan., the long weekend in WDW will include flying vs. driving.

Have Fun!

goofyfortink,we are also from central MA and have the same plan as you. Goin for an extra long weekend Dec4-9 that I just started planning last week. Can't wait to see the World at Christmas time!princess: princess: princess:

eeyoresmom...hope you have a terrific time!!! Holiday time at WDW....what could be better??!!

I don't think you are crazy.

We will be arriving in WDW on 12/11 (Thursday) & leaving 12/15 (Monday)
I wish it could be longer, but I am just excited to even be in Disney...who cares how short the stay is!!!!

That is pretty much what we did. We actually set up reservations for Christmas through New Years about a month ago. Went out and bought this years versions of the planning books we like, then realized how much we hate crowds. Christmas and News sounded like a great idea, but not when we have not been to Disney if 5 years. Too busy. So Lori and I reworked our vacation schedules and moved our reservations to the week after Thanksgiving just a few weeks ago. We went from the busiest time of year to the slowest, which suites us fine since we have always wanted to go to Disney during Christmas time and we will definately enjoy managable crowds.

We decided to make Thanksgiving day a travel day. We will leave early that morning and stay overnight in a hotel just a few hours from Disney so when we check in that Friday, we won't be tired from all that driving.
