Hmm.. I wonder how much the account has to be before I start getting a check... and from the looks of it.. my dividend has been under $25 so even if my SSA account did exceed that certain amount I wouldn't get a check anyways..![]()
Are you sure that it's only dependants that are not in this plan because I have a friend who is in the military.. he is single and he gets a check every year.. He's not in this plan
yea the plan stinks

HOw much was your check everyone??
Very curious. My check was for $27.
Christine said:If he is in the military, he would be in the plan with the SSA. Depending on his insurance rates, claims for that year, what he paid out, etc., and how much is in his SSA, he is getting a check. Like I said, I am in the SSA plan and I just got my first check. My co-worker (who used to be in the Navy) has had USAA for over 20 years, has an SSA and got a huge check.

We'll never leave USAA because we wouldn't be able to get back in -- DW's dad was a captain in the Army, that's how she got in. We just kept her coverage, and added me, once we got married.![]()
Galahad said:Actually, once you are in you can always get back in. You can join if you are military, the family member of military, the ex-spouse of military OR are previous member, as I understand it.

I didn't know this.

Also, I think that even if you were to cancel your policies, you would still have a USAA number (and thus be a member). I'm sure there is a purge process but I know that my oldest son has a USAA number and has never had any policies or accounts with them. But he can start them up anytime using his membership. We just got a USAA number for our youngest son, who isn't driving yet. We got him one of those pre-paid debit cards from them and as a result started his membership. USAA is a great organization!
I worked in I.T. for GEICO for several years and always got some minor grief for not being insured with them (very minor grief - more like "ribbing"). But there is no way I ever would have left USAA.
