Anyone else get the DVC survey re: DVC 'elite' club?

I haven't finished this entire thread yet but Just thought of this -

We bought at BLT in 2008 I won't be staying until 2010 but I was excited to hear about the lounge and I know it has been a weird thing here on the boards with the whole points verses cash stays and people from other dvc resorts ect. ect. members only stuff but haven't we always known that they could arbitrarily change this whenever they want -
It wouldn't cost them anything extra to change the rule on this and lock everybody but this special group out -it could be the new Elite Lounge -:sad2:

I doubt it. The perks for the CC can't cost Disney anything because it isn't a budgeted item. If they restricted the TOTWL to CC Members, their revenue would be reduced so that won't happen. They would rent it out to private parties though.

Since the smaller contracts are only availble through resale (for those who don't already own) it sounds like it could be a way of damping down the resale market. The DVC salespeople will be able to hold up this new status as a perk by buying direct. WDYT???

We get new listings everyday from timeshare store, not one day goes by without at least 5/6 new listings, DVC should be more interested in keeping current members than thinking up stupid "elite" clubs. non DVC get every offer going, DVC owners nothing,:confused3

Haven't read all 11 pages, but my 2 cents:

Now DVC is looking to make "haves" and "have nots" within the membership?

No thanks, not the kind of attitude I want to carry or instill in my kids! I want no part of DVC and elitism being in the same sentence.

I have no problem with the concept. I'm sure it would be little perks such as a reception or gift basket or maybe a fastpass. What's the harm? It does show an appreciation to those that have invested a lot of money in DVC. They should get a perk or two.

If you were putting a point requirement on this club, where would it be?? 300points? (not even a week in a two bedroom during dream) 500? (that's better, 1.5 weeks in a 2 bedroom during dream) 700? (now were up to 2 weeks) Or how about round it up to a solid 1000? How many people have 1000?

I vote for 500! 'cuse that's what I've got! ;)

so have we, why should we get anything extra than someone who only say has 200, we bought what we needed as did the person who bought 200, DVC is rapidly turning into something I wish we had never bought:sad1:

If DVC reads these boards, it could be because there have been various threads through the years, that Disney should have a 'frequent flyer' type program that rewards their most loyal customers.

that wouldnt work, 1 family say goes for 3 trips a year sun to thurs, thats 15 nights 2 family goes for 14 night staying 2 weekends they would use more points than 1st family, so who would be considered most loyay? who is going to be cheking on all these differant circumstances.

Those would not be reasons for Disney not to have such a program. I think you're approaching this from one of fairness compared to the points costs and you can throw that out the window. Such programs are always designed with the ultimate long term profit in mind, not necessarily fairness. Disney would decide what gives them the best long range return. Likely some combo of resort level (Dx, mod, value) and number of nights would be the criteria, possibly with a seasonal adjustment.

Let me give you a football example since it's been referred to. I have a friend who is well connected both in general but esp by Marriage. They have a bunch of great seats for the ball games and have over 30 years credit with those seats for season tickets points calculations. They are also in the highest cat for yearly donations and have been for a long time. A few years ago the system gave people the opportunity to buy 100 years worth of points for $5K. So instantly they're middle of the pack or lower if they don't ante up the extra $5K. Thus for $5K (far less than a years donation) anyone could get the same credit they'd spent decades accumulating. Is it fair, IMO no, but it is consistent with the way things are done now at all major football powers that I know of.

sorry being from the UK i have no idea what any of the above means, over here you buy a season ticket, end of season you have 1st choice to renew thats it, dont renew by a certain date then its on general sale

no i was saying that The person using more points, must have those points to use which means they have already spent more, so given DVC more profit already, may have not put it quite how i wanted to,

if they bring this in will they sell it as

OWN A PIECE OF THE MAGIC, THE MORE YOU COUGH UP THE MORE MAGIC YOU GET

Here most successful college football programs, and some basketball programs as well, charge you a ransom for the right to buy a tickets. Something like $200-1000 per seat every year for the rights to also buy the tickets, PLUS the actual price of the ticket on top of that.

The possibilities are almost endless. They could do it on the number of points bought, the number of nights, the level of the resort in question, dollars spend on other on property options, etc. I doubt they would give any credit for past purchases including DVC though.

If Disney was to come up with a DVC recognition program, would that really be so bad? As previously posted, these types of programs are all around us in our every day lives.

If they offered owners something extra at 500 points and a little more extra at 1000 points would that really be so bad. DVC owners are already getting privileges that the cash paying Guests don't get, so how is this different?

I have not read all of these pages but if they did that....

IT SHOULD BE NAMED AFTER DVC MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 :worship:

Uh Oh, phony viral marketing rears its ugly head.
Let's see if this blows up in their face like Royal Caribbean's "Royal Champions".
My advice to any of you invited to join is to keep it a very tight secret.

I agree - why is everyone in a panic? They won't punish all DVC members to give rewards only to "gold" members.

Perks for those who spend more already exist at WDW for DVCers and cash guests.

Example 1: If you pay cash for a savanna view room, they don't treat you rudely, deny you room service, make you pay for Magic Express so they can be nice, clean the rooms, and give free Magic Express to concierge level guests. They give all hotel guests kind service, but additional services to concierge.

Example 2: I don't see everyone ranting and raging because members who pay extra for concierge rooms get perks over other DVC guests?
Why? Because they paid more!!!

People who have 1000 points paid more than those who have 100 points.
No one is a lessor DVCer or person, THEY JUST OWN FEWER POINTS!

Having tiers or clubs is still fair - everyone has the same option to buy as many points as they can or want to! That is the principal this country was founded on....Fair doesn't mean everyone has the same thing as everyone else, it means everyone has the same opportunity to work hard and choose where they spend their hard earned money.

They will still say "welcome home" to everyone.
Off my soap box.

This concerns me. One of the things I really like about DVC is that they treat all members equally. It doesn't matter if you bought resale, it doesn't matter that you only own 25 points, every member gets the same perks, and the use of there membership. In many other timeshare points programs they have different levels of membership. If you only buy a few points, or buy resale, you become second class citizens, not entitled to the same benefits as the VIP owners.

That is my concern as well. I wonder if they were thinking more along the lines of 1000 point club or something?

All members are not treated equally, they are given equal opportunity.

Home resort owners get to book at 11 months, BLT Guests get the TOTWL, BCV Guests have access to Storm-a-long Bay, AKV Concierge Guests can book the Sunrise Safari.

Any Member has the opportunity to experience the above, just like any Member can buy enough points to be included in a recognition club.
