I notice that when we drive to Hilton Head or Orlando from New Jersey, I get dizzy whenever we stop and get out of the car. We usually stop every 3 hours or so. Any ideas on why this happens?

my doctor once told me dizzyness was a sign of dehydration

don't know if it is true or not

Yup i get slight motion sickness on planes, boats, and cars

Planes is by far the worst.

It sounds like you're having a bit of vertigo, not uncommon on car or plane rides. if you are only stopping every 3-4 hrs, you probably would do better breaking up the trip a little more. Most adults should stop every 1-1/2 to 2 hrs so they can stretch their legs, preventing deep vein thrombosis(life-threatening blood clots caused by long periods of inactivity.) Get out, walk around, drink some water. That should help. Also, don't read or lot down in the car as it fools your brain--your eyes say you're sitting still, but your inner ears says you're moving, which is one cause of motion sickness or vertigo.

hmm... I hadn't associated it with motion sickness as I've never had a problem with motion sickness and don't feel ill when it happens. I do change position often and flex my feet to keep the blood flowing though!

motion sickness or dehydration. i too used to get sick on long car rides, etc. i know take a dramine for motion sickness & always bring water or gatorade in the car. i also do this on the plane.
