Anyone else garden-obsessed?

The thread with backyard pictures inspired me to wonder if there are any other DISers out there as garden obsessed as I am.

It is January. How do you think I'm spending my free time? Drawing up a site plan and researching growing methods for our new yard. I discovered FreedomGardens.org a while back and had just gotten a start on transforming our current yard when we decided to move, and now I'm ridiculously excited about the blank slate of the new yard.

Hubby's eyes glaze over the minute I start talking, though, so I thought I'd see if there are any like minded folks around here who might enjoy talking plants.

Anyone else really into gardening/landscaping?

Oh, I love it!! We bought this house five years ago and just recently pulled up every shrub in the front to re-landscape it. I know what I like and what I want, I just want some warmer weather to get it done.

You know, part of the fun for me at Disney is looking at all of the beautiful landscapes that they have there. I love getting ideas for things and then doing it. Believe me, my yard needs a lot of work. We have had to redo everything here. It's so much fun though. :goodvibes

We've been in our current house 5 years too, but I feel like I really only got started with landscaping last season because there was SO much cleanup to do (it was a foreclosure when we bought it, and very untended). I put in a lilac hedge that should be gorgeous come spring, and some fruit trees along the back that haven't even reached fruiting age yet.

I'm not all that bothered by leaving what I have done behind, though, because the whole lot at the new house is pretty much a blank slate. The fencing is in place and there's a pool we're going to remove as soon as the snow melts, but there's no major work that needs done. And I cannot wait to get started because I've found so many really cool ideas that I never thought of or heard of when I started planting here, like fitting in more fruit trees by training the apples and pears into a living fence.
