DW and i have been following this since 1/4/07. (Yes a new Year;s resolution) We have stuck with it and plan on sticking with it. Just curious if anyone else on the Dis is following this so we can share tips and successes.

It has worked great!

Well friend I like to follow other, Few days ago I joined a website and there they are helping me to manage the calories i should be eating and how much exercise i should do. It needs to be calculated to my specific goals and I will find it much easier to follow when it's all written down in a simple format in front of you.

Sounds great. I wish you all the best with that. We all need to find the right plan that works for us!

I follow it somewhat loosely, but the weight isn't coming off....I just feel better. Have you lose weight?

Dawn

Yes, we have both lost weight. I lost it more quickly than DW. We are following the whole thing inlcluding the workouts and the walking 30 minutes a day. It takes time, but it is really a great program. The key is to really follow it and completely change many of the old habits. It is a great plan!

i admire you! i looked at it, and i believe in Dr. Oz and his recommendations for living healthy, i just didn't know if I could give up some of my processed foods  did you have trouble with that? i keep watching at Costco for the book to pickup but haven't seen it there yet, inspire me? how did ridding yourself of the chemical crap change how you felt?

and btw -- i'm going to move this to the main forum, the healthy eating sub-forum is a place to share recipes and not quite as busy as the main board :)

I borrowed the book from the library and while I agree with a lot of what they had to say, I felt it was a little restrictive. But then I do not believe in eliminating foods from your diet.

It wasn't that hard. It was a little more difficult for DW, but she completely got into it. We both feel so so much better! Blood pressure and everything is better. When we first started, I figfured that we would finish all of the stuff that we weren't supposed to eat instead of throwing it away. That lasted for about a week and away it all went!

We really enjoy eating the OZ recommended food. DW has created a whole slew of great dinners that are loaded with flavor and benefits. It is not terribly restrictive once you get on it. It is not a pass/fail plan. We occasionally stray or have to make reasonable compromises. But even at WDW we can stay pretty close to the plan.

Well, we are off on a 30 minute walk!

I also have the book and think it's a great plan. But, I need to be better about it b/c I feel great when I follow it. I always think I look a lot less puffy, especially in my face...I think b/c I'm eating less sodium and other processed junk. I'm actually in a wedding this weekend and was thinking of following their diet in the book for the week to look and feel better. I know I need to make it more of a lifestyle change, but I'll take it one week at a time, for now.

Also, do you think it's a lot of cooking?? I'm not a big cook and I'm only cooking for myself, so sometimes it feels like a lot of work! But, the recipes are good!! I usually freeze whatever I have left over and eat it the next week.

The only real cooking that we do is for dinner. Freezing is very useful! Breakfast is cereal and fruit, lunch is natural peanut butter on whole grain bread and a fruit serving, usually a banana. Snacks are raw walnuts, apples, bananas, raisins, berries, carrots, and dark chocolate! That is a snap shot of my day. DW makes incredible dinners. She says most are very simple. The chili in the book is awesome!

Be patient with yourself. It gets easeier and is fun!

I am not familiar with this, but from what you just posted, it seems interesting to me. I am wondering about the balance offered.

Sorry. but I don't understand the question. Can you explain it me? Thanks.
