We were on our first cruise over the Winter Holidays so there was no school to miss. The offer of a 7 Day Cruise for about half of our 4 Day Cruise was too good to pass up. But now that it's only a few weeks away, I'm feeling guilty! My kids are in the 4th grade and Kindergarten. Missing Kindergarten isn't such a huge deal, but 4th grade kinda is.
I did speak to the 4th grade teacher today, and she said that if I feel that my son could keep up with his school work while we're on the ship and would be able to catch up with his class when we got back, then she really didn't think is was such a bad thing. I really don't worry that he could keep up ( and he knows, no O.Lab until he's done his work, plus she suggested he keep a journal of the trip).
I haven't spoken to the Kindergarten teacher yet.
I guess I'm just feeling like an unresponsible parent! In the great scheme of things, missing a week of school when you're 9 and 6 years old is no big deal! But I was just wondering if anyone else was feeling this way and how you GOT OVER IT!!
Thanks!
Chip
