Anyone else experience trouble with MYPOINTS site?

I was just trying to cash in "my points" for a gift certificate on the MYPOINTS website & it won't go the site for the restaurant I want to get it for. Has anyone else had a problem with this site?

I had heard quite a while back that there was a possibility MYPOINTS was not going to be available any more. I have been receiving e-mails from them all along & my points have been accruing, but now I am wondering if I really won't be able to spend them. :(

I cashed out for and received a webcertificate within the past two weeks (it came really quickly!), so perhaps it's just a problem with the individual place you're trying to redeem from? Try writing to mypoints and see if they can help you.

HTH,
Lori

That restaurant woulsn't happened to have been RFC, would it? I have been waiting since 8/15 for an RFC GC. When I try to email them, I get the form emails telling me I have to wait six weeks...arrgghh! When I tell them it has been six weeks, they say it hasn't!

I sure hope they get here for our Dec trip.

I'm wondering if there isn't a problem with them getting these GCs and that maybe they have disabled the link to cash out for them for now?

I've cashed out of MyPoints successfully many times. Usually get my card within a couple of weeks. However, recently, my points aren't being awarded properly. I've emailed and received response that they will appear within the next 10 days but its been over 10 days since the email.

I was hoping to get a RFC for my Nov 28th trip but it sounds like that isn't going to happen.

Any other good restaurants in the Disney area on the MyPoints site? I'm thinking maybe Olive Garden if I can't get RFC.

I cashed out for a RFC GC two weeks ago and it came in the mail today. You no longer get a paper certificate. The new GCs are plastic cards. They are valid for one year, and then there is a "non-usage" chage of $1.50 (?) per month.

If you have been waiting this long, I would say there is a problem This is the 2nd GC I have gotten from RFC since Sept. I would try calling Mypoints - I have gotten better service that way. If you need the phone number, try posting on the rewards board.

I spoke too soon - I was able to get on this afternoon & redeem my points. I didn't get it at the RFC - I got the one for Chili's because it also is good at Macaroni Grille.

If I remember correctly, these 2 restaurants are right next to each other right down the street from the Crossroards. I wanted to have the option of where to dine. I think that Olive Garden is good at Red Lobster also. :D

What are my points? Are they a really good deal? Where can I find them?

Sign up with mypoints.com . :D You can sign up to receive emails and when you click the link, you pick up anywhere from 5 to 10 points. Visiting the website itself offers other ways to gather points, like on line shopping or signing up with anything from long distance to credit cards. Once you accumulate enough points, you can "cash" them in. For instance, 1400 points gets you a prepaid gas card! :hyper:

I cashed in 1400 points a couple weeks ago and received the card within a week. ::yes:: I cashed in the other 1400 points shortly thereafter and I am still waiting for that card. It says "awards pending" or something like that. Maybe I cashed the second set of points in too soon or something.

mypoints.com is free to sign up. I have occasionally purchased items on line through their site around Christmas time. They have many different promotions. It's usually 1 point for every $ spent.

The easiest way to accumulate points is to open their e-mails & just go to their sites. You don't have to purchase anything. I just cashed in 3000 points for a $25 gift card to Chili's & some other restaurants. I do this so we can use it when we go to Disney. :earsboy:

The only time & effort it takes is opening the e-mails & waiting for it to connect to the site. This is the 2nd card I have gotten. It takes a while to accumulate 3000 points if you are only doing it 5 points at a time for e-mails, but I figure it's worth the little effort I put into it to get money towards a meal. :teeth:

What is there a date on the RFC certifacte or does it say just use with then one year. I trying to decide on ordering for Setember 2004 trip.

I'm glad you told me that. Now I know there is definitely a problem and I will call them tomorrow. I believe the MC board has a sticky with all the rewards phone numbers.

About the cards, are you saying that they actually take $1.50 off of your GC card balance each month you don't use it now? If so, what a rip off!

Thanks,

Mary

Mom2twinz3,

They only take $1.50 off AFTER you have had the card for a year. The old certificates expired in a year, so this is no big deal to me.

Crazelion,

You get a Landrys gift card, not a gift certificate, so you can use it at restaurants other than RFC. There isn't a date on the card, or on the letter from Mypoints that comes with the card. It says on the back of the card that 12 months after purchase, the $1.50/month non usage charge starts. I assume the date they refer to is the date Mypoints purchased the card; maybe 2 weeks before you get it?

I would wait a month or so if you aren't going until September, then you won't have any problems with the 12 month time limit.

I used my points to get a Rainforest Cafe gift certificate. I ordered it about a week ago and got it in the mail yesterday. I didn't get the gift card though. It was the paper gift certificate.

Hey Sammi6,
Come visit the Disney Rewards Programs Board here on the DIS.

There are a lot of different online programs (like MyPoints) where you can earn gift certificates, Disney Dollars and cash for your next trip. They cost nothing to join and if you do a lot of online shopping, the rewards can be pretty good. But you don't need to make purchases to earn GCs. Many of the programs have paid emails, banner ads to click for points, daily trivia and searches. I've been doing them for a number of years and they do help defray the costs of a Disney vacation.

I cash in MyPoints for webcertificates. I then use the webcertificates to buy Disney Store gift cards (I call the #800 in their catalog. And, they don't charge for shipping!) Then I take the plastic gift card to the local Disney Store and buy Disney $!

You don't have a problem doing this. When my DD's got Disney Store gift cards I was unable to purchase Disney $'s with them. I ended up giving my girls the value of the cards in Disney $'s I purchased & using the cards myself for gifts for other people.
