Throwing my hat in on the south beach diet. i have gained a lot of the weight i lost back from when i did atkins and nutrisystem. I just can't seem to do atkins again, so I am gonna try this. I am pre-diabetic, and i can tell a huge difference in how I feel when I am off carbs.
Starting tomorrow. Did my grocery shopping today. Lots of chicken breasts!

I just had my second weigh-in today (we're having a weight loss contest at work! LOL), and in my first two weeks on South Beach I've lost a total of 9.5 pounds.

That was Phase I, which is the strictest phase, so I'm not surprised that I lost that much. As of today I start Phase II but so far all I've had that was different from Phase I was a whole wheat English muffin. lol
What is the biggest difference between Atkins and South Beach? I've never tried Atkins at all. In fact, I haven't dieted at all in years. I was definitely ready to start this. lol
My DH is diabetic and he's doing the diet with me, so it'll be great for him. He did great on the first week with me, but this past week he's been on a business trip and didn't do very well sticking to Phase I, so he has asked me if I'd do another week of Phase I with him, and I told him I would. Maybe for lunch I'll just add in some fruit or something, but it definitely can't hurt me to do another week of Phase I.
It sounds like you're ready for a great start tomorrow, having gone food shopping today. That's really been the key for me, to make sure that I have the appropriate foods available.
My favorite thing about South Beach is that there's no measuring, weighing, counting, etc. There are foods you can eat, there are foods you can't eat. Simple. lol
If you want, I can tell you what my meals have been comprised of. I don't really do recipes well (I just can't be bothered. lol), so I basically have been making up my own (within the parameters of the diet) and it's been working well so far.
