My soon-to-be-DH and I are getting married on August 4th. We had talked about a Disney wedding initially, but we decided against it for several reasons. The biggest one being that my folks own a condo in Kissimmee, and to do a Disney wedding you have to stay on property at least four nights. Seems kinda silly when we can stay in the condo for free! (though working around EMH is a PAIN IN THE... yeah.)

So we instead decided to get married locally, but take his two girls to Disney World afterwards. :)

I've heard that other people have done this, but I've never talked to any of them before! I was wondering if anyone posting here was considering such a trip? I'm sure some people think we're nuts, but we want them to feel like they are a part of our family. And besides, we can always take a "second" honeymoon for one of our anniversaries by ourselves when they're a little older. :) Plus listening to two weeks of "I miss the girls!" from my fiancee is something I'd prefer to avoid! :D

My family and I are going to Orlando for my cousin's wedding in July. She has 2 little girls from a previous marriage and wanted to have a Disney type wedding. Several cousins and her parents, brother, etc. are all flying to Orlando and staying for a week. We are renting 2 houses in Kissimee for the entire crew! Should be alot of fun!

So far the details of the actual wedding are hush hush. I did not know that she couldn't have the wedding on WDW unless we stayed on site.:sad1: I am sure they have plenty of nice non-Disney sites in the area.

Good Luck on your new marriage!

Thank you! And who knows, the plan could be for them to stay on property for a few nights, and leave the kids at one of the houses with reletives, and then go to the parks later. Kinda like a mini-honeymoon inside of the main one? :) If Gramma and Grandpa are there, I could see this being the case. Plus if it's hush-hush, who knows! And renting houses makes sense when you have a lot of out of town guests - we're renting out a B&B in the Wisconsin Dells the weekend of our wedding!

We are arriving on a Monday night, getting married at WDW Wednesday, and sending my daughter home to her dad's on Saturday night, finishing up our honyemoon with some couple time through the following Thursday. That way she is included in the wedding and almost a week of the trip, leaving us five days as newlyweds !

We continued with our Honeymoon with our 2 girls, everyone else went back to England and we stayed on.
Instead we are treating ourselves to a week in las Vegas this May, Just DH and myslf. Its over 14 months late, but we would have missed our girls too much if we had sent them home. We had a great time with them.

we are getting married at SBP may 08. Our party will consist of me, DH2B, our DD age 4, SIL and BIL with their 2 children 4 and 19 months and FIL. we are all flying out together, except FIL, about 9 days before the wedding. FIL will join us about 3 days before the wedding. we will all be staying at BWV until 1 week after wedding, then we are all heading to Vero beach for a few days. we are DVC members and we are paying for all the accomodation with points. we will share a 2 bedroom plus studio at BWV and 3 inn rooms at vero.

will we miss having lots of couple time? NO - we are so looking forward to the whole thing, not just the wedding but enjoying the parks and the resorts with everyone and our DD is excited already about holidaying with her cousins. We will probably have chance to have a little "us" time, moreso than if it was just the 3 of us, as we can perhaps ask a few "babysitting" favours!

My step-son & step-daughter flew out from Alaska to be with us. They had never been to Disney. They stayed a week with us in our 1 bedroom DVC at Beach Club Villas. Two months later we did a 4 night cruise on the Wonder and a 3 night stay at The Yacht Club...so I got 2 Honeymoons!

I think its great that you are including the girls. What a fantastic way to start your new lives together! I also think that though you may not be alone together, you will still have a wonderfully romantic time. He will be surrounded by the ladies he loves most, and you will find the joy in sharing the magic with his two little dolls!

Sounds perfect to me!

That pretty much sums up how we feel too!

Good to read everyone's stories too! Thanks for sharing :)

DF and I have been together for 11 years, and he adopted my daughter from my previous marriage last year. We have never went on vacation without her, and can't imagine a reason to start now. We are getting married in WDW, and she is the only person coming to the wedding (we are having a reception at home). Even though the trip is our wedding and honeymoon, we would be miserable without her. She is going to be 16 at the time, and it seems that disney is one of the few places that she can go and be a kid and not worry about anything. She is also DF's ride partner since I don't care for many rides. He would be lonely without her LOL!:rotfl:

Well, there are some places that given the option we would go without them (such as a schooner criuse in Maine that I saw online and really want to do) but this just feels RIGHT. :) Plus going to WDW isn't exactly a sacrifice on either of our parts (besides financially!) :rotfl:

We're doing a Familymoon! My parents and the rest of my family live in Louisiana and Mississippi (My DF and I live in VA). Because we're getting married in Disney and it's a great vacation location, everyone is joining us on our honeymoon. Some are only staying for a few days, but my mom, step-dad, brother, DF's son, and the 3 little girls are staying the entire time! We have our own room, but we are planning to do most things with everyone! We miss them so much and can't wait to spend the time with our family! We both decided it was a much better idea than leaving and going on a cruise without everyone, at least for now! We might still do something alone, but much later!

We are doing a familymoon as well. we are getting married sept 08 and we have my parents and sister who will be 12 my DF parents and his sister and husband, about 15 friends coming with us as well, we are all going out for 2 weeks and getting married a few days in, after the two weeks we are going on to Jamiaca and then the family will go home to prepare for our at home reception

Wow! That's a long trip, lucky you! Enjoy!

We're going to florida with my mum, 3 brothers (22,11,7) and 6 sisters (20,18,12,5,4,1 1/2) dad, his partner, MIL, FIL, BIL1 ,BIL2, neice/nephew(not born yet) and future SIL. My mum, brothers, sisters and all the in laws are staying for 2wks, my dad and his partner are staying for 1wk and then driving to san fransisco and we are staying on for an extra week to have time on our own (3wks all together). Only 3 of the wedding party have been to florida b4 so we're all very excited. I'm glad they're all coming, when we went on our own last time all we did was go on about how cool it would be if everyone else was there! I think its perfectly acceptible for you to bring family with you, but then Im biased! :bride:
