Anyone else disappointed?

On our trip to WDW in July we were really disappointed in the changes that were made to the Enchanted Tiki Room and The Journey into Imagination. We always enjoyed both; but not sure we like the changes. Anyone else feel the same way?

My husband wrote guest service about the Tiki room. Our DD 2 was terrified and we had to leave soon after the show started.

We actually received a call from Disney! They only got our answering machine; but still they called. Most places don't care that much about what you think. It may not change a thing; but at least they were willing to listen; and told those in charge.

I really missed the original Imaginaion - "A dream come true, with just a spark from me & you".

We were there this past July, DH and DS love thrill rides, and we split up alot, so Journey to Imagin. is one for all of us to go on together(plus it brings back honeymoon memories). So we go to ride and CM asks if there is a party of "3" and DH takes 2 kids and goes. I'm standing there like "what, we are a party of 7!", so I ride with other kids, when we get off I tell DH that I really wanted it to be special to see Figment together. He doesn't get it! And then they change the ride, of course I was glad towards the end when it was like the original ride "A dream come true..."

So, yes I agree with you.

As far as the Tiki Room, we skipped it altogether. We barely got to see the "must do"s at MK.

One week just isn't enough!

I miss the old Tiki Birds show. I just picked up a "Disney's Greatest Hit's" cd at the Disney Store and it had the "In the tiki tiki tiki tiki tiki room" song on it. It brings a smile to my face every time! Such a lovely show. Now it's garish with Gilbert Godfried screaming through half of it and that "plant lady" scares my girls half to death. They refuse to go in there. It's too painful for me to see. So I just sing to myself.....

and the flowers croon....

I am glad there are a few of you out there that agree.

I really miss the old Tiki Room and Journey into Imagination. It just isn't the same.

I guess, they will just have to live in our memories. It is just too bad we can't share them with our children.

I dont remember the originals of either of those, but I absolutely love the new Tiki Room. Iago cracks me up every time.
JIYI, was a cute little ride, a nice break out of the heat, but I dont think I would make it a point to see it every trip, just if it happens to fit into our schedule.

I actually like the new Tiki Room better than the old one. I think it's much more humerous, especially with the addition of Zazu and Iago. A do agree though, that the improvements (especially the new Tiki godess) does make it is intense for young children. But then, it always was scarry and loud. I remember when I was a kid, the thunderstorn scene that they had scared me a lot.

As for Imagination, I like both the original and current version (the Figment-free version was just ok, but not all that great). There are things I like about both versions and I still enjoy ridding it.

I liked the original Tiki Room. I think the best part of this new story is the old song, and there's just not enough of it. Give me more of the song and it would do.

Also, Journey into the Immagination #1 was the best ever, and my whole family agrees. But help me here, was there a different show between the original one and the present one? Is this new one a modification of a 2nd show that only showed for a little while? I'm asking because we went to the new show in Dec. '02, it didn't seem as "bad" as I had remembered it. There seemed to be more of the original show in it and I was glad. But maybe the first time that I saw the new show, I was just so sad that they changed it that I couldn't see it straight. Anyway, if there was a vote, I'd vote to bring back the original.

I too miss original Imagination. I love Figment.

I never saw original Tiki, but I really enjoyed this version. Of course, removing Gottfried's obnoxious voice from anything would be a vast improvement.

I miss the original everything. In my mind, WDW of the 70's was the true WDW.

When I take off my sentimental glasses it seems that the new Tiki Room is just as good -- maybe not as classic because it stoops to using popular characters to generate interest. Since Epcot wasn't around in the 70's they can change it as much as they want. I enjoy it either way.

I admit I probably haven't given the new "improved" Tiki Room a real chance. It was so loud and beyond the first little piece with the orginal song it was hard to enjoy. DD 2 was scared and crying. DH took her out. I lingered with the rest of our party for a brief moment but left to be with them.

I didn't think there was much to the new Journey into Imagination ride. It lost something in the change. I won't go out of my way to see it like I use to.

I miss Mr. Toad's Wild Adveture, too. I see Disneyland still has it. Might have to go pay him a visit before he is replaced, too.

If you need another reason to go to DisneyLand- their Tiki Room is still the Original!!

You took the words right out of my mouth! :p

We saw the "original" Tiki Room at DL last November, and it was awesome! DH and I completely embarrassed eldest DS (11 1/2 at the time....) by singing along, etc. but we were having sooooo much fun! :p

I have to admit that I enjoyed the original Tiki Room more than the present one but this one is OK as well.

As for Journey....I haven't seen the newest one yet, never saw the second one and was never really wildly impressed with the original, so I guess I'll be alright no matter how it is. It was a nice "dark" ride but I always had a hard time remembering what it was all about. I am actually looking forward to seeing the new one to see if it might jar some memories for me.

I remember the thunderstorm scaring me as a child too. That's when I buried my head in my dad's side. But it was something natural. And it only seemed to last for a few seconds. That "person" coming out of the center all covered in ivy is downright freaky! It scares me and I'm supposed to be the grownup.

Now why does DL still have the original show??? Maybe I need to head to California. I'm positive if my girls saw the original Tiki Room show, they'd love it.

As for the Imagination ride...I've only seen the original version. I know that there was a second version (without figment) and now a third. But I have no opinion on any of them.

Because it is the one that Walt worked on personaly. I look forward to seeing it again this August "04.

I realy miss it at WDW. I have seen the new show twice. Once shortly after they changed it. And then again, just to show my mom how bad it was. The Tiki room use to be on my must do list for every trip. But now that they have changed it...I just walk on by. And if you ask me... I think that is what alot of other people are doing to. I have gone to the park in the middle of Spring Break and only see 5 people watching the pre-show. Just Sad!

I miss the orginal Jorney also, even though the last time that I was on it before they changed I thought it needed some updating. But what they did was just awful, they should be ashamed of themselves. I have not been on the ride since they changed it for the seconed time. I will be checking it this Feb "04. Keeping my fingers crossed for it.

We thought of going to Disney Land this trip but decided to wait until the weather is a little better. I am putting it on my to do list.
I just need to see the Tiki Room again in it's orginal form and ride Mr. Toad's Wild Adventure.

I also noticed that while it used to pretty well packed with people there was hardly anyone in the show.

I was just pleasantly surprised to get a call from someone at Disney about not liking the changes. I wish I was there to answer the phone! Maybe next time the change it they will try to make it a little less scary.

We to miss the orginial Tiki Bird Show. The new one just dosen't do anything for either my DH or I, where as the old one was a do not miss hit.
Haven't seen the new Figment one yet and am looking forward to it in Nov/Dec:D

At the beginning of the show when they do the small snippet from the original song, DS 4, was upset when the song stopped.

What I really miss is the giant rainbow after the JIYI ride. They took out all that great stuff to do. I know they left some of the things like making your computer face, and jumping on the sounds. But, I remember spending hours there. We made a movie with our family. It was so funny, I'm glad we have it on tape, because they took that out. I like the 3 version of the ride better than the 2nd, but, it's still is not as good as the first one. I'm glad that we have an old cassette tape with the original version of "One Little Spark". My DD sings it all the time, and I usally chime in.:p
