Anyone Else Disappointed with Sticth Ride?

We just returned yesterday and had a great trip.

We got to preview the new Stitch Great Escape and my kids and I were definately not wowed.

The preshow part was good, but the ride portion was ho hum.

When we exited, my daughter nicely commented "That was sort of boring, wasn't it". She tries not to degrade Disney in any way, knowing it will offend mommy, but I have to agree with her.

Anyone else feel this way??

Our family got to preview it on Oct. 14th before MNSSHP -- we didn't care for it, either.

Ds (11) and I especially hated those harnesses that push down on your shoulders. They made me completely claustrophobic and ds and I both thought it hurt when Stitch "jumped" on them.

Dh, ds and I all agree we're glad we got to try it, but we'll never do it again (which is a shame 'cuz we LOVE Stitch).

Well, as an AE fan, now I won't have to waste park time in line for it. I'll just remember it the way it was.

Every review I've read is a bad one. I'm debating if I should even waste my time on it...

I didn't really think that it was much different from AE. The Stitch animatronic was great and the big guns were cool. The interaction wasn't that exciting but it wasn't worse than AE and I liked that. Plus Stitch is one of my favorite characters so it got a plus for that.

We went on October 30th. It was definately a disappointment. It wasn't scary, it wasn't funny --- it was just there.
It was too dark and loud for some of the smaller children. 3 different families left because of little ones who were upset and scared.
It seems like it was hastily thrown together. Hopefully they will do more to improve it.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one.

My son loves stitch so we will probably go on again in the future if there are no lines.

Like jkovick said, hopefully they will add more too it in the future.

Yup, I'm with y'all. Agree with darwineffect - it's way too much like AE, just with Stitch theming. We waited about 30 min. on 10/25 and it definitely was not worth it. Hated the harness and that "chili breath" did linger - we decided to skip the hot dog we planned to have at Casey's afterwards.

I thought after the JIYI debacle Disney said they would never again try to refurb an old attraction into a new one. They would gut it or start fresh with a new show building.

I felt it was pretty ho hum also. I'm really not sure what they could have done to the attraction to improve it but keep it from being uber scary for the little ones.
I think it'll have lines for the next 6 months to a year and then a total walk on after that. Quite a shame for prime real estate.

I liked AE pretty well. Too bad about the reviews on the new attraction. I'm not a Stitch fan anyway.

This is very disappointing to hear. I had hopes that with all the time it took to change it, we'd have something good. So what exactly do they do with all that down time?

i am very sorry to hear this about stitch...hopefully disney managers check in on the boards and hear stuff like that. i think they need to invest some more money in the theme parks to bring them back up to par with a decade ago.

We saw it last week. We liked the pre-show, but it was downhill from there. I really hate being negative. However, Disney employs the most creative minds in the world, and this attraction was simply lame. Stitch appears, disappears, hops around in the dark, burps, and leaves. The seats were awful, the ride was boring, and our time was wasted.

One good point, it was hot and the place had good A/C.

I know everyone's seen it in it's "soft opening" stage...if they get enough negative feedback, is there time to significantly change it? Or is it going to have it's big opening exactly as is?

Sit up straight with a bit of upward lean when the harnesses first come down, this way they will be higher and have less effect.

I've read many positive reviews, some on this website, and many on another major WDW website. Some diehard AE fans don't like the fact that this is a much tamer ride.

How do you get out of the restraints?

From all the reviews I've read, it seems like they are tinkering with it, changing the effects, etc. They have two show rooms, and seem to work in one while the other has soft openings. The nice thing is they can increase lighting, reduce effects, etc. based off of responses that they get from people.

No matter what they do, there will always be a pct. of people that don't like the ride.

I'll be seeing the show twice in April, thankfully without having seen AE, so I won't be comparing it to something else. Looking forward to it.
