Anyone else disappointed with an ebay purchase?

I'm so angry right now.

I found (what appeared to be) an adorable Mickey Mouse tote bag on ebay. The seller said she bought it at a local boutique as a gift, but ended up not giving it away & decided to sell it on ebay.

Based on the picture, I had to have it. It looked so nice & sturdy & filled with pictures of my favorite mouse! So, I bid the $19.99 and eventually won. With shipping (major ripoff), it came to about $27.00.

The package was promptly shipped and I ripped it open with excitement. I could not believe what I saw......it was dirty, faded, clearly used. The fabric is thin and flimsy. I immediately threw it in the washing machine to try to clean it up a bit.

The seller had somewhat decent feedback, which is why I bid on it, and after the auction ended she left me glowing feedback.

I've thought about pursuing a reimbursement, but I just don't have the time or patience for that. So, I'm going to keep it and give it to my neice to use as a beach bag. It's the perfect bag for a 4 year old kid who will fill it with sand, seashells, and little toys.

I was wondering if any of you had disappointing ebay experiences also, whether you're the buyer or seller.

One of my first purchases was an outfit for my DD. It was a lime green retro pants suit. ti was describe as in new condition and only worn one time.
Well the knees were stained, the bottom was very "picked" and the hem around the armholes (it was sleeveless) shirt bottom and pants was ripped out. I swear she must have taken pic's of it then let her kid go play in it.
I left bad feedback describing the condition and she called me a liar and said it had only been worn 1 time for a few minutes for photos.

My last purchase was a digital camera. Great deal but the seller lied and said the rechargable batteries and charger were the quick 2hr charge. They are not, it clearly says it takes 17 hrs to charge the batteries. No biggie, since the deal on the camera was so good but the seller lied and then told us (it was a dealer with several up at the same time) that we better shut up because we got a good deal and he could contact the extended warenty company and cancel our warranties. We dropped it.

Yes, I bought a pair of jeans. I was so excited and when I got them they didn't fit. The measurements that she gave might have been correct *before* she washed and shrunk the jeans, but I've worn this size in this brand of jeans before and the ones I bought on ebay didn't even come close to fitting :(

Yep. I bought a bud vase for my VW bug. I don't remember exactly what the auction said now, but I was under the impression that it was a GLASS bud vase (as most bud vases are). I paid quite a bit for it and when it arrived it was PLASTIC..... Of course, I didn't ASK if it was glass, so I didn't feel I had room to complain. I will probably try and sell it.

I sold a rabbit coat that I had bought on ebay. The size was advertised as 12 and I didn't like the fit when it arrived, so I sold it. I used the size that was advertised when I bought it. Got an email from the buyer who was quite upset that the coat was NOT a size 12. I offered to refund her money, but she said she had a friend who might buy it. never heard back, so guess the friend must have bought it.

that didn't measure up to what I thought they should..I resold them on ebay..lol!
In reference to your comment about 'pursuing reimbursement'..since you have washed the tote bag..that's out of the question..if you had notified the seller before you did anything..you might have been able to return it to them and get a refund of your original bid and shipping..but once you alter the item in any way..you have voided any chance you might have had of getting your money back..simply relist it on ebay if you don't want it..just be honest and list the defects so someone else doesn't get the same problems you got!

I have never bought anything from ebay, but my dh has bought quite a few items. We have never bought clothing or anything fabric, but have always been happy with our purchases. He has bought a headlight for our Festiva, a book for a computer game we have, golf stuff, etc. It is important to trust the person who is selling and if you have any questions, send the seller an e-mail asking them about the condition. And by all means, if you aren't satisfied with your purchase be sure you send a scathing review on the feedback. People really do look at those feedback reviews. Sorry your experience wasn't good, though. That would just irritate the heck out of me.

My first bad experience buying on ebay happened this last week. I found the cutest pair of Mickey shortalls, and just knew I had to have them. I was already planning what I could shove in the pockets at MK. Well, the showed up sooner than I expected...nice! I rip open the pakage and to my horror they are NOT a misses size 12, but a girls size 12. Talk about making me feel bad when I tried to try them on.
:(

I promptly sent the seller an email letting her know and asking for a way to resolve this. To her credit she emailed back and offered a refund, but has yet to state if that is the auction only or auction and shipping. I don't think I should have to pay for shipping for her mistake. Especially since I have to pay to send them back to her. She is on vacation for 2 weeks now so we'll just see what happens.

I bought a flute for my daughter for her birthday. The description said it was in playing condition and had no dents or dings. It said some of the pads needed to be replaced. When I got the flute in the mail, I almost cried! It was dented, bent, keys missing and filthy. It was not at all as described. I emailed the seller right away and told her I would find out what the cost of repair was and I would let her know if I would be returning it to her. It cost $175 to repair the flute(I paid $50 for it). I was going to return it but the guy at the music shop told me it would be worth about $500 once it was repaired. The seller refunded half of my purchase price and was very apologetic. I left her good feedback.

I bought a rare first edition book from a 'reputable' seller on Ebay only to discover on delivery the book stunk horribly of cigarettes and the outer edges of the pages were brownish/yellow. I immediately contacted her and sent it back for refund. If something is not to your satisfaction or if it turns out different than described in the auction, contact the seller immediately prior to doing any washing or attempts at repairing the item. I sell things on Ebay also and, knock on wood, haven't had any returns, but I would be very willing to if the customer wasn't satisfied. Only thing worse than an angry Ebayer is an angry DIS'r. ;)

I have never bought anything from EbaY but my youngest son does and he was so excited to win a vintage tee shirt until it came- it was a large all right but the seller failed to say it was a child's large!

I've gotten several things from eBay and have always been happy with the items, except once. I bought a teacup and saucer set that was pictured to have lilacs on them but when I received them they were not lilacs, but violets. Yeah, still purple, but I wanted lilacs, not violets. I left feedback for the seller that the items were well packaged and promptly shipped, but "not as pictured." I never tried to get my money back. I would be afraid to do that - to send the item back and then never get my $$$ so I would be out the item AND my $$$.
