Anyone else "counting on" a snow day for Wednesday? UPDATE POST 74

No School here. Sleeping in but still wish it was spring!

Hoping. Praying. I have the flu so I'd really like to have one less day of make up work to do :)

Dr Mel on channel 8 said during the noon news "Tell the kids they don't have to do their homework tonight." I relayed this message to my kids, but added "Your mother says do it anyways."

;)

My daughters Spanish teacher gave them extra homework just in case they have a snow day! She's such a sport!;)

We got the robo-call also!

Here in CT, that's all everyone is talking about. We're expecting anywhere between 6-14". After Friday's early dismissal debacle (a couple of bus accidents and our staff having a very difficult time getting home), it's almost assured we'll have no school regardless of exactly how much snow we get. The downside.....I have 10 tickets to Disney on Ice Wed. night to take all my nieces and nephews. :guilty:

Reading this thread must have been my good luck charm - I just got my call! I actually didn't think that it would come until tomorrow since my district canceled on Friday and it didn't start to snow until 2:30. The last early dismissal time would have been 1:20, so we definitely could have made it. But I'm hoping we don't get too much - not looking forward to shoveling upwards of 14"! :sad2:

Schools here were closed yesterday and again today for a light coating on the ground but lots of ice. North Carolinians do not know what to do with themselves when anything other than rain falls from the sky. On the plus side, DH's office was closed yesterday and right now he has a 2 hour delayed opening.

We have LOTS of ice here in Charlotte- schools closed again tomorrow. I'm glad there aren't many people driving- it is dangerous with the solid ice all over the roads.

Gosh no. I want husband to go to work and kids to go to school tomorrow and of course, it's been cancelled already.

Kids have already lost Presidents Day off which messes up our mother/son disney trip and they have lost the day they were going to have off in March. I've no idea when they will make up tomorrows day off. Either tack a day on at the end of the year or shorten spring break I guess.

I sure hope it clears enough tomorrow afternoon for my husband to make it into work in the afternoon. As of right now, he's saying he wants to try. He's getting on my last nerve. I can't imagine what it would be like if he was home retired all the time. I think I would go nuts. Aaaaack!

I am in Georgia - land of no snow/ice removal equipment. And we've got nice icy roads everywhere right now.

Another nutmegger checking in. I assume we'll have no school but our district always waits until last minute to call it.

I checked the weather channel alert and it said 16 - 24":cool1:

I love when the kids get to stay home for a snow day, especially since it is my oldest dd's birthday. :thumbsup2

the one good thing is that the plows are going by the house right now trying to widen the path they should have made wider last week. We got a one plow width down our side street and the cars have to pull over to pass each other since the strip is so narrow.
We live in Fairfield and I went to Bpt. to my doctor a couple of days after Christmas and could not believe how bad the roads were! They did an awful job plowing.:sad2:

I'm in NJ. Just got my call about 45 minutes ago that school is closed tomorrow
We have three snow days built into our schedule so nothing to be added yet. Our marking period is over next Friday so I will spend the day grading papers, but it's nicer to do that at home in my PJs.

Right now they are saying that it will be worse in the east and less towards the NY border. Also, they are saying that it will be tapering off to light snow showers in the afternoon. What show are you going to and where are you coming from?

I hope it works out for you and you all get to go. We saw them Saturday in Hartford.

Did you enjoy the show? We have tickets for the show in Bpt., which is close to me, but niece and her kids are also coming from Southington.:guilty: I called the venue today and they said "no refunds, no exchanges" unless the governor declares a state of emergency. I paid for 10 tickets that I might be eating.

DH is a mailman so I feel bad for him. He has to go in either way unless our new gov makes that call.:thumbsup2

I did get the call, however, that my work (in a school) is canceled. Yay!:woohoo:

I'm afraid to check but last I saw we were in the 12-18inch range and mention of blizzard like conditions. Since the snow is supposed to start around midnight and not end until 7 to 8pm tomorrow school the powers that be actually cancelled school which isn't the norm for us. The tv listed it as cancelled by 4pm though I didn't get an automated call until close to 7pm.

Oh I hold out hope based on previous shows that you will get that refund/new booking!

Glad ya got a work day off. :)

Our News forecast just said - We get but one storm like this a season. Are you kidding me? What the heck was the blizzard that dumped 20" the day after Christmas called? UGH!

just got the robo call no school! Good thing cause I rolled the dice and told the kids they didn't have to do homework when they got home from school today:lmao:

DH got the call hours ago...me, nada...zip....zero....we won't hear until the last minute in the morning! (ugh)

My son hadn't done his homework, because he assumed a snow day. We told him he had to do it otherwise he would jinx himself.

A l138 districts and/or private school in this area already had a delay or called off for tomorrow. Our district... not so much.

I have allot of family on the East coast and they are all ready for the storm.

Be safe everyone. Stay home. Stay warm.

We in CA are even getting coverage of your pending storm.
